T T to page 70 Although Britkin Industrial Construction has built its reputation on coolstores it has also quietly established itself as a versatile player in the wider industrial construction sector undertaking a variety of projects including office blocks, warehouses and manufacturing facilities. As an example it has recently completed a build for Twin City Aluminium, a 1,000 square metre joinery factory paired with a 210 square metre office space. Currently Britkin Industrial Construction is working concurrently on two significant projects demonstrating its capabilities in both coolstore construction and office blocks and warehouses. The first is Stage 3 of a development for GEK Property Nominees for tenant Rockit, a new 126-metre-long by 65-metre-wide coolstore where 50% of the internal footprint is dedicated to controlled atmosphere cool storage. The technically complex project includes an additional 1,100 square metres of canopy and 4,500 square metres of yard space. “We are also looking to bring in some new technology for the tenant, a New Zealand first. This will enable better preservation of their fruit and better quality of long-term storage,” explains Richard. Stage 3 started in April and is due for completion in around 12 months ready for the 2026 season. • Plumbing • Drain Laying • Gas Fitting (06) 651 2200 Representing Excellence Master Plumbers WINNER NZ Plumbing Awards 2023 NEW ZEALAND MASTER PLUMBER OF THE YEAR
