| 111 T T Sue Russell Group builds on culture of success TW Group’s business units straddle all elements of the building trade and process. TW Group BUILDING Rebecca Chatham, Marketing and Communications Manager at TW Group, says the vertically integrated multi-faceted business, is in the midst of an exciting rebranding, as it seizes further opportunities to expand into new regions. TW Group encompasses it’s very own People and Culture team, that comprises of Health & Safety, HR, Marketing & Communication, IT, Finanance, their GM and the CEO of Trades who link the 10 business divisions within the TW Group under one roof. And with a history that began with ‘one man and a van’ to grow into its current scale and diversity, Rebecca says it’s the perfect time to present a clearer, more unified front to their valued customers. TW Group’s business units straddle all elements of the building trade and process, giving the company the capability to work seamlessly from initial concept, planning, and design through the build phases to handing over the keys to clients, servicing a broad array of sector types. “We’re incredibly proud of what we stand for and that begins with valuing our people, looking after each other, working as a team to get the job done, no matter what the challenges,” Rebecca says. Business activity spans property development, home and land, construction, civil and infrastructure, traffic management, electrical, solar, plumbing, painting and masonry, concrete and landscaping, and roofing. Asked what underpins TW Group’s success, Rebecca says it’s the aspirational culture, bent around a common vision. “The fact that we have so many relatable individual businesses under one roof united by a common goal gives it real strength, efficiency and means we can work very nimbly, bringing exceptional results for our clients.” Lying at the heart of thebrand is a legacy of strength, a spirit of collaboration and a constant dedication to excellence. From humble beginnings, established by Cam Ward and Simon Tremain following the pathway carved by their grandfather and father, today TW Group employs over 540 qualified and trained tradespeople, managers and key support staff. It’s domain has shifted beyond Hawke’s Bay as well, into Gisborne, Waikato and Christchurch. Rebecca says the rebranding process began with input from consultants to help sharpen the form of the rebrand. “When you have grown to the size we are with so many business entities within the Group, we know it is so important to simplify the business model so that TW Group can work anywhere.” She is also proud of the company’s constant and considerable investment in its people, affording entry-level opportunities within the trades, embracing staff within a set of cultural values. “We represent a legacy of strength and unity, a spirit of collaboration and a dedication to excellence that stands for more than just a business.” Being able to offer clients a seamless and comprehensive range of services for all property activity, be it residential, commercial or industrial and from beginning to end of project has been key to TW Group’s successful growth path spanning business units established as little as 18 months ago to seven years and counting. And some massive projects are currently in build phase including Gisborne’s Mental Health UnitTe Whare Awhiora. “We are over halfway through as of February and the build is going well.” With the resources and skills TW Group has at hand, the business contributed hugely to the post Cyclone Gabrielle clean up, sharing roles in the community role in cleaning up and reinstating roading and bridges in the region. Supporting the team to upskill and really make a career from entry-level through to management is something Rebecca says sets the company apart from many. “Internally we are invested and encourage our employees to learn new skills and progress professionally and personally for a long rewarding career. It’s very rewarding to see what people can achieve with support.” Celebrating women in the trades is another focus, with 70% of the traffic management division female. “Many have gone on to gain STMS qualifications and its great to be a part of stabilising their work ethic. We’re also working towards empowering women within our trades business to encourage positive impact across the organisations culture. With the rebranding being finalised in April this year, what lies ahead for TW Group seems set to bring further growth, engagement and success.
