Owned by local childhood friends, Adrian Palmer and Mark Cook, both say the value of having local knowledge and expertise when developing within the region is helping to deliver projects locals can be proud of. The pair combined their expertise and local knowledge in 2017 to establish their company. With Mark’s background in the financial sector, including owning a mortgage broking firm focused on property development, and Adrian’s experience as a Lower Hutt business owner, the duo embarked on a journey to contribute to the region’s housing supply. What began as a small three-house development has since evolved into ambitious projects, featuring 15-38 homes on each site. Unlike developers from outside the region, Palmer & Cook takes pride in building in their own backyard, the Hutt Valley. “Born and raised in the Hutt Valley, we’ve got to be proud of what we build in our backyard. It’s different for developers from outside the region who don’t have that same connection. We know we will often run into the people we sell our houses to in the community,” says Mark. Palmer & Cook emphasises spacious living, with floorplans averaging 10sqm larger than the competition, says Mark. Quality is paramount, and the company consistently exceeds standards via high specification in its homes. They enlist the expertise of professionals, including interior designers, to ensure each project is not only well constructed but also aesthetically pleasing. For example in their recent 22-lot subdivision in Taitā, Palmer & Cook engaged local input, consulting with a colour consultant from Elliot Interiors, Emma Elliot, to determine the interior and exterior colour schemes. This collaborative approach reflects the company’s commitment to meeting the community’s desires and needs. “Emma lives in Taitā and it’s indicative of our policy of engaging people locally and asking them ‘what do you want to see in your backyard’,” says Mark. info@hublegal.co.nz | +64 6 304 8666 www.hublegal.co.nz We are proud to partner with Palmer & Cook Developments
