ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN There is more than meets the eye at Emma Brown Design. Behind the pink door off Palmerston North’s George Street, is an integrated architectural and interior design and construction project management studio. Those specialties are led by a team who take design dreams from concept to reality and have a range of awards backing their work, ultimately placing them among the best in the business. One of the company’s latest award winning projects is the design and fit out of Misoi, an Asian-fusion restaurant in Palmerston North. Architectural designer Sarah Cheetham led the project, which won two accolades at the Architectural Designers New Zealand Resene Architectural Design Regional Awards. The project won a regional commendation for commercial interiors and fitouts and a regional award for Resene colour in design. It also won the 2023 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards National winner of Resene colour in design, and a Silver Pin in the Best awards, category colour award spatial 2023 A range of attributes complete the project, including a colour scheme that celebrates the joy and power of colour and a pattern adorning the restaurant’s walls, depicting a celebration of Misoi’s signature noodles. “Considering that the budget was going to be gobbled up by the requirements of building compliance regulations and mandatory fit-out expenses of a commercial kitchen, our design had to use budget friendly, out of the box methods” Sarah said. The team’s research took them to places like Motel Mexicola in Bali, Kiss Kiss in Auckland and Rice Rice Baby in Mount Maunganui. “These places had interiors that sparked conversation, promoted fast paced dining and provided the ‘wow’ factor that we were looking for.” Emma Brown Design prides itself in a wide scope of work, from minor renovations to new home builds and commercial fitouts. Creative director Emma Brown said the team takes a client’s ideas, translates them into a working brief and brings them to life. “Starting at your initial enquiry, through to handing over your keys, we’re your people.” However, the team at Emma Brown Design doesn’t just take dreams and turn them into reality. “We take the stress out of one of the biggest financial and emotional commitments you’ll ever make and understand the importance of getting it right,” Emma said. Emma established Emma Brown Design in 2020 with the aim of offering clients great designs and organised process-driven systems, which now specialises in architectural and interior design, along with construction project management for a wide range of residential and commercial projects. From a small renovation, right through to a full new build, or commercial fitout, the team can help their clients every step of the way. 135 Mulgrave St, Ashhurst, Palmerston North 06 326 8849 | sales@villajoinery.co.nz | villajoinery.co.nz Quality Kitchens Designed & Manufactured • Local Manawatu Builder • LBP Certified • New Homes • Renovations & Extensions • Architecturally Designed Homes • Farm buildings, crossings & yards • End-to-End Service 021 747 273 longpointltd@gmail.com PROUDLY SUPPORTING EMMA BROWN DESIGN
