WWW.WINGER.CO.NZ “But our supply chain innovation has been the absolute golden bullet for our success.” Craig has been part of the company’s journey for the past 34 years and says he joined the business at a time when it was a team of twelve. During that time he has overseen much of the company’s evolution and growth trajectory but says the people are the heart of the business. “The drive for excellence in product and service is one thing, but you can’t achieve that without creating a culture of excellence for your people. “We put a lot of effort into our staff well-being programmes, looking after them because they are key. It’s people first, get the right people around you and develop the right culture with them, which I believe we have done very well. To meet the environmental challenges the world faces today Mitchell’s daughter Mikayla Plaw has joined the business, championing a closed loop circular supply chain through recycling and many sustainability initiatives. Reflecting on the company’s importance as an employer Craig says in its absence the product could all be imported and there would be no window systems (APL) business. “This business has enabled us to supply 75 licensed window fabricators under the three brands, who also employ staff, some as few as five but others have teams of up to two hundred. Without our window fabricators we have nothing. “So all our effort has gone into innovation, our supply solution, our brands, and assisting window fabricators to be bigger and better. “They are a big part of what we do every day. We’re out there mentoring, helping them with their factories, improving machinery and driving efficiencies. “ There’s a lot of work that goes into ensuring they are the best and can grow. If they can grow we can grow — they are extremely important to our success.” “The drive for excellence in product and service is one thing, but you can’t achieve that without creating a culture of excellence for your people.” T T Terry’s journey - page 20 businesscentral Each edition priority delivered to your door. .
