66 | Demand drives warehouse expansion T T Karen Phelps Power Farming is building an $8-10 million parts distribution and assembly warehouse at its base in Morrinsville. CONTRACTING Power Farming Taking on the New Zealand distributor rights for JCB Construction equipment has seen Power Farming significantly expand its offering. “This allows us to further utilise our structure and facilities to offer our customers an even greater range,” says Power Farming Group director Brett Maber. On the back of this growth, Power Farming is building an $8-10m parts distribution and assembly warehouse in Morrinsville, where it is based. Just three years ago it built a state of the art retail dealership next to its national wholesale headquarters in Morrinsville and tripled the size of its workshop next door. The construction of a brand new purpose built facility in Te Awamutu with get underway within the next 12 months to replace an existing building signalling huge investment in the Waikato region. More jobs have also been created. The team has expanded by about 25%. “The new retail facility means an enhanced customer experience,” says Brett. “Power Farming started over 80 years ago and the experiences of our dealerships and their customers around New Zealand were harnessed to create this new facility. We now have even better facilities for repairs and servicing. It’s also meant a great, safe and efficient working environment, allowing us to attract the best people to the business.” The new parts distribution and assembly warehouse is under construction and due for completion late 2022. “We’d outgrown our present building so we took the opportunity to look at what the business needs both now and into the future. For example machinery has got larger so overhead gantries will make the job safer and easier. We try to stay at the forefront of our industry.” The new facility will act as the New Zealand distribution centre for spare parts and will assemble and take care of quality control for all products coming into New Zealand. “We not only have stock held in New Zealand but access to stock in Australia as well with over 100,000 line items electronically linked and spread across the Australasian warehouses. This ensures our customers receive a speedy supply of parts,” says Brett. He says Power Farming is proud to be based in Morrinsville where the company originally started. “It’s a very strong farming region and we are close to the ports in Auckland. We’re a major employer here and it’s nice to be based in a smaller rural town.” Power Farming has built its business on a dedication to helping Kiwi farmers to grow their businesses by farming smarter. With a vast array of new and used machinery and equipment, the Power Farming team knows how to help farmers to get the best out of their operation. Power Farming represents top brands such as Deutz-Fahr, SAME, Kioti, Merlo Telehandlers, Kverneland, McHale, Jaylor and Taarup. Services include on farm servicing, routine maintenance, welding, electrical repairs , air conditioning servicing and diagnostics. As the biggest privately owned agricultural wholesaler in Australasia, Brett says the full Power Farming product range is supported by a strong team of technical service managers who provide service backup and assistance, service training and warranty administration. Technicians are available on a 24 hour 7 days a week basis and are supported by personnel based at the head office who offer over 150 “We not only have stock held in New Zealand but access to stock in Australia as well with over 100,000 line items electronically linked and spread across the Australasian warehouses.” years of knowledge and experience. “It’s about finding out what our customers want and then delivering that to them along with our professional advice. Our customers know we are there to service their needs both now and into the future and Power Farming is a name they can trust.” He says Power Farming has grown from small beginnings by always focusing on being the best. “We have a philosophy of putting profit back into the company and into New Zealand. But although we’ve grown, fundamentally our family values haven’t changed. We believe in farming and we believe in the Waikato so our present projects will support our continued growth and are a very worthwhile investment for us.” 0508 HYUNDAI (498 6324) sales@hyundaiforklifts.co.nz www.hyundaiforklifts.co.nz Hyundai Material Handing are a world class leading forklift brand with exceptional features, safety and innovation.
