Uno Windows & Doors, Taranaki Bulk, White Electrical and Dialog Fitzroy’s scaffolding division are all operating from their new premises via design/build lease agreements. Additional lots have also now been sold. Developer CJ Mahony says market reception to the project has been “extremely positive” as Hāwera hasn’t had a greenfields commercial land development for decades. “It’s something that is very much needed,” he says. The development sits on approximately 26 hectares of land being developed into 30 commercial lots and 70 residential lots. The two areas are divided by a waterway that will be further enhanced with tall riparian planting acting as a visual barrier for the residential subdivision and including a walkway that will link to Glover Road. Over 15000 trees will be planted with works due to begin in the residential part of the development once there is a through road connecting to Glover Road. CJ is aiming to achieve a Greenstar community rating for the residential development. The West End Precinct commercial side of the overall development will take place over four stages. Roadways have been designed to accommodate heavy traffic and both design and build lease and land purchase options are being offered. The South Taranaki Business Park is a strategic initiative designed to encourage greater private sector investment, sustainable economic growth, innovation, employment and resilience in the dist ict.
