New tenants are a mix of relocations and expanding businesses. Some are brand new to the district – part of the aim of the development to lure more businesses to Taranaki. The business park will ideally be suited to trades and services businesses and Kevin and Russell say there still exists great opportunities for businesses to be a part of the park. In total, the first stage consists of 13 lots of which seven are still available. There are three lots sold and three tenanted buildings, which were designed, built and leased prior to going to market. Available sections range from 1200sm – 6030sm and lots are available for both purchase and design, build and lease. With the latter option, Kevin and Russell say the tenant would work with the developer and his team to design a premises that is fit for purpose which the tenant would then lease. They say that a first right to purchase can also be added to the lease and this would be a good option for a company needing to move into premises as soon as possible. “Infrastructure is being designed to support the businesses in the park. Roads and crossings will be large and suitable for heavy industrial use,” says Russell. “Fibre, power, water, sewer are being installed in the road and will be accessible at the boundary of each lot,” says Kevin. They say that the visual impact from within the business park to the neighbouring properties and the wider community has been carefully thought out. Design guidelines have been put together to ensure a cohesive, smart looking development, says Kevin. Design concepts have been developed for various sites to illustrate the types of buildings and landscaping people may wish to build/lease in the business park. Russell says these can be used as creative inspiration. They both say that creating a great environment for workers has been a key aspect of the park, assisting businesses to attract and retain great staff. In addition to the many options Hawera already offers, the green space alongside the stream at South Taranaki Business Park will be developed, which will have extensive native planting and a walkway - perfect for breaks throughout the day, says Kevin. It is also hoped a café to will take occupancy to service the business park and future residential development. Stage 2 of South Taranaki Business Park will be released to market in 2024, which will open another 12 lots.
