Adan and Kelly are Taranaki born and bred and today, they call Stratford home. They started their business once Adan had completed his apprenticeship with Brad Gibbons Builders, starting out with one trainee builder and quickly winning a good amount of work which allowed them to take on an apprentice. “This is one of the values we really pride our business on,” Adan says. “We can take good young local people on and teach them the art of being a really well rounded carpenter.” Adan Larsen Builders carries out a very wide range of carpentry work varying from new homes, renovations and extensions, as well as implement sheds and farm buildings, roofing, and small concrete and landscaping projects. “This allows us to teach our apprentices a very wide range of skills and give them a very good grasp on what it takes to be a good carpenter.” Adan Larsen Builders’ apprentices have taken part in the New Zealand Certified Builders apprentice challenge and over the years they have done very well, some representing Taranaki at national apprentice challenge events. This year current apprentice Michael Craig will represent Taranaki at the national competition, marking the sixth time Adan Larsen Builders has represented Taranaki at the national finals. “We are really proud of this. It is a real privilege to be able to support our local region and economy by training such great confident people that can go on to start their own business, or diversify into other trades, or travel the world knowing that their skill set is of the highest quality.” Adan has been an active member of New Zealand Certified builders where he held the role of Taranaki president for five years. The business really values the support of the association which it uses as a support network as well as a guide to best business practice within New Zealand’s building industry. “We get away to conferences when we can and keep up with the latest products, trends and technology.” Taranaki has served Adan Larsen Builders well over the years and Stratford especially has been a really nice town for the business and the Larsen family to be part of. Adan Larsen Builders has always supported its local community, through sponsorships of local schools and sports clubs as well as supporting local building supply merchants, electricians, plumbers, plasterers and painters, excavation companies, solicitors, and accountants. “It is important to us to support local, that is how a community can survive when times are tough and thrive in the good times.” Adan Larsen Builders prides itself on doing a great job for its clients, whether that job is replacing rotten weatherboards or installing top end cedar cladding. ““We still go about it with the same mindset that we want to leave the project knowing we have done the best job we can provide for our clients.”
