With today’s technology, it’s now more than possible to work from any location. This has seen Marton experience a resurgence as more people prioritise lifestyle, says Hayden Gould from Rangitikei Development. The company has already completed the hugely successful Hereford Heights development – now sold out - on the corner of Hereford Street and Bredins Line. The 8ha subdivision delivered 82 lots varying from 410sqm to 1270sqm. Now it is working on Harveston, a 68-section subdivision with sections range from 400sqm - 1100sqm, available for purchase now. “There are a range of options in Harveston from easy-care to those wanting a larger section. It’s in a quiet part of town and engineered to the once in a 200 year flooding model, which has become an important consideration recently,” says Hayden. Affordability is a key draw card and Harveston provides options well under the prices in nearby centres such as Feilding and Palmerston North. Needless to say compared with places like Auckland and Wellington Harveston offers incredible value for money, he says. With less traffic, all the services people need including two supermarkets, great schooling and fibre internet, it’s a hugely attractive offering, says Hayden. “Lifestyle is important and with Harveston you can sell up in a larger centre, get a better home and even have money in the bank afterwards,” he says. He expects the market will be similar to Hereford Heights, which attracted a lot of first homebuyers and young families from out of the area, looking for an affordable home and a better life. Retirees also stand to benefit from a move to Harveston. Rangitikei Development was started a few years ago by Hayden and long time friend Bain Simpson. Bain was born and bred in Marton and Hayden has worked there for some years. Both are incredibly passionate about the potential of the region and helping it to develop.
