They are backed by a good team of mostly local staff operating modern machinery equipped with 3D technology. There are also other local projects underfoot. Rangitikei Development is in the process of getting final engineering completed for further lots in another development it is undertaking, and on top of that has other land holdings with a keen eye on the future regarding residential development in Marton. The entrepreneurial pair has also recently purchased a commercial premise, Arahina, in the heart of Marton they are looking to convert into a hotel. “We are excited to have recently purchased Arahina, a very special title with Heritage status,” sasy Hayden. “The 1919 homestead and surrounding buildings set in park like grounds have been in the hands of the current owner for the past 20 years and prior to that New Zealand Girl Guides. Arahina is somewhat unknown to many in town being unseen from the road blocked by mature trees. Our intention is to give Arahina a new lease of life and share it. This will include earthquake strengthening buildings, landscaping and some modifications,” explains Hayden. “There is already a shortage of accommodation space in Marton. “Marton is centrally located between Wanganui and Palmerston North and has the central lower North Island railway junction so there are a lot of businesses and trades working and passing through that need somewhere to stay. “We also see potential to develop a quality dining/bar option for visitors and locals along with a conference/function centre and events venue in the near future.” It’s yet another example of Rangitikei Development’s community focused approach and constantly seeking ways it can help to grow the town in the right direction.
