Brittin Builders BUILDING With construction, joinery, and painting services all offered from in-house, Brittin Builders offers a wrap-around building solution for architectural new homes and heritage restorations, proudly creating the next generation of classic Hawke’s Bay homes. Brittin Builders is a second-generation family building company based in Havelock North. Started by Roger Brittin and originally known as Williams and Brittin, Brittin Builders has grown to more than 20 full time staff and includes an on-site joinery workshop and painting business Now in the hands of Roger’s son Jason and his wife Emily, and with a firmly established reputation as an expert in heritage home building and renovation, today Brittin Builders is building homes for the children and grandchildren of some of Roger’s first clients. Brittin Builders loves being in its niche heritage market and with Jason’s 35 years of experience, is also very good at it. “Heritage renovations can be very hard to price because you never know what you’ve got behind a wall or under a floor,” Emily says. “Jase has been building since he was 15 years old so he’s had 35 years of figuring things out. He knows where all the pinch points are going to be and where the questions might turn up, so for us it’s a matter of having really good communication about these things with our clients.” Brittin Builders grew its capabilities in 2015 with the purchase of existing local business, Parkhill Joinery. “Parkhill supports Brittin Builders with the seamless supply of bespoke, high quality joinery, including heritage reproductions of exact replicas of existing mouldings, as well as supplying expert services to other builders across New Zealand,” Emily says. “We can match like for like on our heritage restorations and make sure that happens in a timely fashion.” The production efficiencies and quality control gained with this in-house service saw Brittin Builders expand again in 2018 with Brittin Painting. Following the same model as Parkhill Joinery, the on-site, in-house painting firm supplies its expert services to Brittin Builders projects as well as other independent builders. “Painting is one of the last pieces of the puzzle and often until it’s done, you can’t do various other things like electrical fittings and flooring. With Brittin Painting, we are able to work to our own timeframes and provide a painting service that’s finished to our standards.” Brittin Painting is booming and Emily would be happy with a further two painters to join the current team of three but like in the rest of the business, new recruits are only selected based on skill, potential, and attitude. “Lots of builders can construct a modern, functional home, but only a Brittin builder can create an exceptional home that will become a future classic, or renovate a piece of history so it will endure for another hundred years. We are extremely discerning in our recruitment, in the professional development of our team, and in valuing individuals the way you would expect from a family business with strong family values.” INSPIRE Tiling We are working with the best product from Ardex, Sika and Mapei Waterproo ng | Screeding | Splashback | Wall and oor tiling Deck jack | Commercial and Residential services 027 441 2986 info@inspiretiling.nz www.inspiretiling.nz Proudly Supporting Brittin Builders Craftsman Plumbers & Regd.
