The outdoor spaces received equal attention, with garapa pool decking, permeable paving, and glass pool fencing creating seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The original swimming pool was retained complemented by outdoor living zones with wood burner heating. For Haarlem Build, the project represents a significant showcase of its capabilities. Founded in 2007 by Nick and Kelly Robbers, later joined by cousin Tristan McDonald and wife Michele, the company draws inspiration from Nick and Tristan’s grandfather, a Dutch architect from Haarlem whose practice began in the 1940s. With 15 staff members comprising predominantly local builders and trades people, Haarlem Build has established itself as a major Kapiti Coast construction company handling projects ranging from $500,000 to $25 million. “This project shows we are capable of delivering extremely complex, detailed, high end jobs on time and on budget,” says Will. “The successful delivery has reinforced Haarlem Build’s reputation for quality craftsmanship.”
