Fulton Hogan teams and individuals shone at the National Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) Construction Excellence Awards in Tauranga on 25 July, taking out three category wins—and achieving finalists for eight categories. The awards recognise New Zealand’s most outstanding civil construction and maintenance projects of the year. The Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway project took out the 2025 CCNZ Hirepool Construction Excellence Award for Projects over $100M, while the Auckland System Management (ASM) team won Excellence in the Maintenance and Management of Assets. In the individual awards, Auckland Airport Contracts Manager Josh Wilkinson was named Z Energy Emerging Leader of the Year, recognised for his outstanding leadership journey—from co-founding the University of Auckland Civil Engineering Students Association to leading Fulton Hogan’s Auckland Airport project team of 120. In an unprecedented achievement, Fulton Hogan also earned another leadership accolade, with Bay of Plenty Project Engineer Darcy Gallagher receiving a Highly Commended in the Z Energy Emerging Leader category. Fulton Hogan had the leading number of finalists in the awards - with eight. Finalist project teams included; the Waimea Community Dam team in the Projects over $100m category, the Te Mārua Water Treatment Plant optimisation team in the Projects $20-100m category, the Hastings District Council Three Waters maintenance team in Excellence in the Maintenance and Management of Assets category, and the Wairarapa team for their EcoReef® post flood road rebuilding project in Projects Under $2m category for the Masterton District Council.
