| 79 Satellite branch set up in Taupo ‘Our team brings a combined experience of over 70 years in the industry’. Chris and Carrie Taylor own and operate Napier-based Taylors Pools and Spas, a business they have worked hard to grow into the thriving company it is today. The couple took over the business outright from Chris’s parents Kym “The Poolman” and Jenni Taylor in 2018 and today engage a team of 20 staff delivering advice and skills relating to new builds, upgrades and refurbishments of pool and spa structures and equipment to the residential, education and civic/community sectors. “Our team brings a combined experience of over 70 years in the industry. We’re Hawke’s Bays leading pool and spa company and we’re all intent on delivering the best possible service and outcomes to our valued customers,” says Chris. He says over the years there’s been a shift more toward commercial work, installing new pools and upgrading existing ones. Many school pools, for instance, were built back in the 60’s and 70’s and are no longer fit-for- purpose. It’s in these situations that Taylors Pools & Spas can advise and deliver upgrading technologies to give the pool a new lease of life. “We also provide advice to school care- takers and the like as to how best to maintain their pool and run regular workshops on the maintenance of equipment and technologies to maintain water quality. These have been really well received and I get great satisfaction from providing this knowledge and opportunity.” And in an exciting development, just in the last 12 months Chris has started installing a pre-fabricated panel pool structure created by Aquatech Industries, creating endless possibilities as to shape and size of pool. “I always had a background in pool installation and customers were asking for a pool structure technology that could meet their individual space and shape requirements. It’s still early days but we’re tremendously excited about the future of this pool structure development.” And on other positive news, a satellite branch has been set up in Taupo. “We’re also travelling a lot more with our pool liner work as well, so there’s plenty of positives in how the business is evolving that we’re excited about. At the end of the day its all about delivering top quality outcomes to our customers.” The great work and capability of the team at Taylors Pools and Spas has been T T Sue Russell recognised within the industry at this year’s SPASA Awards (Swimming Pool & Spa Assn). A gold award each for Commercial System, Commercial Renovation, Commercial Water Display, Vinyl Lined Commercial Pool up to $250,000 and Gold for a pool renovation up to $40,000. They also won Gold for Vinyl Lined Commercial pool up to $250,000 at the Australia and New Zealand combined awards a few weeks later. Of the many accolades, two projects really stand out for Chris, as he explains. “The Patoka Swimming Club pool got really hammered from the Cyclone and we supplied a new vinyl liner but also ended up taking care of all the plumbing and equipment. It was really great to see this facility reinstated, up and running for the community.” The other project carries a history of involvement by Taylors Pools and Spas that goes back many years. “The Taradale Community Pool renovation had to be delivered within a tight budget. The community had worked hard to raise the necessary funding for the upgrade, and we felt really honoured to be offered the opportunity to show-case our capabilities on this thoroughly worthwhile facility that means so much to its people.” The Taradale Pool was completed in just seven weeks, including stops for Christmas. Chris says having forged really meaningful relationships with so many schools in the district is a particular joy, knowing just how important a good swimming pool is for students. Taylors Pools and Spas POOLS & SPAS “It’s where many children really gain their first sense of confidence in water and its such a vital skill for them to gain.” A current project is some distance from home, but no less important to the team at Taylors Pools and Spas, as Chris explains. “We’re up at Rerekohu school, upgrading their pool. That’s a six-hour drive from where we’re based.” With plans to continue to expand and evolve the service offering, Chris says more and more work is coming from demand outside the region. “That’s why setting up the branch in Taupo has been a great strategic move and we’re looking forward to undertaking more projects on existing and new pools in this rapidly growing area.” visit: paramountpools.co.nz AFFORDABLE NZ MADE POOLS.
