It also has a material recovery business including the pick-up, transportation, and processing of used beverage containers in North America, as well as the subsequent brokerage of the processed material to recyclers. The revenue stream in this business area is derived from fees received from bottlers based on the volume of containers processed. Currently TOMRA’s material recovery activities in North America process over 340,000 metric tons of containers annually. • TOMRA Recycling has pioneered the automation of waste sorting. It was the first to develop advanced waste and metals sorting applications using high capacity near infrared (NIR) technology to extract the most value from resources. .
