Our entry was to recognise the sharing of knowledge and expertise amongst Freshmax and Crasborns, and how that’s become one enduring, shared story. At it’s heart, it’s about people, and there are so many fantastic and highly-committed people involved.” Then separately, another very special award, aimed at one person in the company that excelled in terms of performance and commitment to it, was an additional highlight. The ‘Unsung Hero Award’, went to Ross Howard and was, she says, thoroughly deserved. “I can’t tell you how positive the impact of having Ross Howard in our team has been. He is responsible for the pastoral care of the RSE’s we employ. For these most valued people he is the first person from the company they see when they arrive and the last they see before they go home. He’s always available to them, no matter what the time or situation and for us, that’s such a wonderful thing.” Kristy goes on to say that equally the RSE’s ‘absolutely adore’ Ross. “We have had to move the RSE’s around the country through the time of COVID as they couldn’t go home and Ross has been there every step of the way for them. He’s been involved in the company for over 15 years now and thoroughly deserves recognition of this nature.” She also says that his ability to be so calm in stressful tunes that speaks volumes to the character of the man. “When Ross visits Vanuatu, which is where most of our RSE’s come from, people recognise him and say ‘hello’. They will get out of their cars in the main street to come shake his hand!” At a personal level, Kristy says, her move to Freshmax was the best thing she ever did. “I am just a happier person working for Freshmax. It’s a great company to work in.”
