96 | Platinum Homes - Waikato BUILDING Family atmosphere attracts couple Sue Russell Platinum Homes Waikato offers design and build services for clients who own their land as well as bespoke designs, offering a range of popular standard house plans and house and land packages. For the past 18 months Brad and Angela Wheeler have owned and operated Platinum Homes, Waikato, based in Cambridge. Angela says they were attracted to the nation-wide license network given its reputation for offering awesome quality built homes. “It also had an amazing family atmosphere in terms of communication and support. We are huge family people and both came from family businesses into Platinum Homes. We know communication is a really important ingredient for any successful business,” she says. And while it is just Brad and Angela in the team, they have a large group of professionals and contractors they use to cover every aspect of building a home. Platinum Homes Waikato extends over the whole of the Waikato region, from Te Kuiti up to Te Kauwhata, Te Aroha to Raglan, throughout central Waikato and up to the Coromandel. “We can build anywhere in the Waikato if a client comes to us with their own land, and we can also help find our clients land in the area they desire, as we have relationships with developers and real estate agents across the region.” For clients who already own their land Platinum Homes offers Design & Build services, however building goes much wider than that, catering for bespoke designs, offering a range of popular standard house plans as well as House & Land packages. “It means we’re basically able to cater for everyone who walks through our doors.” Often, if a client doesn’t have really clear ideas about the type of home they want to live in, Angela and Brad will help them form their thinking. “We listen to our clients most of all. Listening to our clients perspective every step of the way in the process helps to ensure they get a home that works well for their individual needs. We have a deep understanding that building a home is a big commitment both emotionally and financially.” Out of these conversations action plans are created ensuring that when clients move into their new home they have had a great building experience. When a house is designed it is priced as accurately as possible taking into account any upcoming price increases, so that the final quote is as accurate as it can possibly be, given these uncertain times. And to offset the delays builders are experiencing with products such as Gib Board at this time, Platinum Homes has got busy taking care of driveways, footpaths and drainage work earlier on building sites, so that any time waiting for materials to arrive on site, has been used productively. “We are doing everything we can to ensure our homes are completed on schedule and we keep in very close contact with our clients throughout the build.” Beyond building single dwellings on a parcel of land, Platinum Homes Waikato can build anything from tiny homes for clients all the way through to multi-unit builds and small subdivisions with multiple stand-alone houses. “We are currently working with a couple of clients that are subdividing their land for future builds and also clients looking to do some multi-unit builds in the near future. We love the variety of our work.” As part of the Platinum Homes nation-wide licensee network Brad and Angela have access to a large group of suppliers, while at a local level, they engage with a core group of subtrades and builders who work full-time for them. Summing up the experience to date Angela says the journey has been really fun and exciting. “We look forward to a great future building good quality homes for our customers.” businesscentral Each edition priority delivered to your door. .
