Urban Homes NZ BUILDING Daniel Klinkenberg and wife Bronwyn founded Urban Homes in 2004, so this year marks two decades in business, during which the market has gone through several up-and-down cycles, so typical of the sector. Specialising in design and build, and featuring a range of house-and-land packages, the company works across a geographic area encompassing the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Coromandel and Auckland. In Hamilton, Urban Homes is one of a hand-selected group of build partners at Tainui Group Holdings’ Tuumata Rise development, a stone’s throw from the outstanding Ruakura Superhub. “We’re an established building partner with Tainui Group, who have been working away on establishing Tuumata Rise for some time now. Right now, we are actively marketing five house-and- land packages in the development, and one of these is under construction and due to be completed by Christmas,” says Dan, who spoke with Business Central early July. Tuumata Rise occupies a 10-ha block on Powell’s Road, Ruakura and is well-positioned for access to the city’s main arterial routes. Waikato University is also situated close to Ruakura Superhub, in Hamilton’s fast-growing eastern quarter. When completed, Tuumata Rise will be home to 76 houses. Daniel says he can see the appeal in owning a home so close to major shopping precincts, education and recreation facilities, and within easy access of the Waikato Expressway that skirts the eastern side of the city. House-and-land packages range in price from just shy of $900,000 to just over $1million, and as Daniel explains, they have been carefully designed to maximise the section and street outlook. This is not Urban Home’s first experience working with TGH on one of their subdivisions. They are also a partner builder for the group’s Rotokauri Rise residential development, located between the Waikato and Waipa rivers, west of the city. Daniel says the company has worked hard to develop a brand that is known and recognised for quality. A number of industry awards testify to this fact. “Our team delivers an amazing-quality home, accompanied by a fantastic, seamless and enjoyable experience. We take care of every part of the journey, from design, consenting, construction, interior design options, to hand-over of the key. We will also often build homes designed by external designers.” And while Urban Homes offers a range of plans for clients to look to for inspiration, for the most part, Daniel says, the design conversation begins from scratch. “They may see elements within one of our existing designs that really appeal, so we spend a lot of time in those early conversations trying to learn and understand what the most important lifestyle considerations are.” Urban Homes has spent the past 20 years honing and tailoring the operation to offer customers great service, choice and experience. “We want building a home to be a positive, easy and engaging process for the owner.
