That’s why the company was the obvious choice for the signage requirements of the NZ Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS). From basic concept to engineering and inished signs, Dzine Signs takes projects from start to inish providing a wide range of solutions. For NZCIS this will involve pylon, way inding, window frosting, door and LED signage across the facility. Based in Upper Hutt, Dzine Signs was started in 1997 by Steve Brattle, a tradesperson signwriter with decades of experience having previous owned and operated a number of signwriting businesses. He is now joined in Dzine Signs by his sons Dustin (a tradesperson signwriter), Arran (a tradesperson glazier) and Chris (a tradesperson spray painter). Dustin’s wife Lisa takes on the o ice manager role rounding out the family team. With a sta of 18, o ering over 186 years combined experience, and the very best equipment, Dzine Signs excels in producing a wide range of award winning signage solutions from traditional to truck and vehicle signage, LED and light boxes, exhibition displays, wallpaper and video LED signage. This diversity and expertise sees the company undertake work nationwide, including recently completing the latest Fire and Emergency NZ rebrand of all stations from below Auckland to Wellington, print and install. Dzine Signs operates from a 1500sqm facility, which includes a full downdraft spray bake oven, CNC router shop and print shop with lat bed UV and latex roll printers. Dustin says this ability to do everything in-house gives great control over quality and timing of projects. Sustainability is also important. Dzine Signs has created a recycling scheme with waste collected and all proceeds going straight to its Trees That Count fund raising page. “We’re currently recycling all our metal waste into this project and will expand it to include our cardboard waste. For our customers, we can also recycle their metal signs produced by us,” explains Dustin. Dustin says that Dzine Signs is used to working on large contracts meaning its experience will assist the smooth running of the NZCIS project. For example the company holds the contract for the Greater Wellington Metlink and is responsible for supply, installation and maintenance of all signage across the rail stations. Dustin says large projects particularly involve establishing good lines of communication and close management of deadlines to ensure project continuity. Being based in Upper Hutt, as well as a family involved in local sports, has made the NZCIS project extra special. “It’s very exciting to be involved in such a large, unique, local project like this. We feel very privileged to be a part of the team delivering this amazing facility.”
