Experienced electrical industry locals Shane Heaton and Gavin Streeter purchased Isaac’s in Waipawa in 2013. It then had a staff of six, and has since undergone considerable growth, now boasting a current staff of 59. In 2015, Isaac’s opened a branch in Hastings to service industrial and rural clients around the town- ships. Starting the branch from scratch, Isaac’s now operates a switchboard building facility in Hastings, which builds more than 50 control panels each month, with a vastly experienced team of around 30 employees. The company is now the largest electrical, plumbing, and pumping sales and service company in the Hawke’s Bay. It maintains a library of installa- tions, with a full set of records dating back to 1953. Its comprehensive retail store in Waipawa stocks hardware, tools, hose gear, and pumps. With offices in Waipawa and Hastings, Isaac’s are able to service the entire region. Registered electrician Daniel Pepper joined Shane and Gavin as a director in 2019. He says Isaac’s is unique, as its plumbing, drain laying, pumping, and electrical specialisations allow it to provide its clients with a turnkey solution which is ultimately more cost-effective . “ We utilise the latest technology to provide systems that are future-proof, reliable, and also cost-effective,” he says. “Our highly qualified staff have the ability and capacity to deliver, no matter the size or scope of the project.” Isaac’s previously took out the Medium Business award at the Hawke’s Bay Business Awards 2014, and saw last year’s entry as an opportunity to challenge the company’s achievements against the other large businesses of Hawke’s Bay. “It is always a good challenge entering events such as these to testify our strategic plan and ulti- mately test our business model,” Daniel says. “This Large Business award category was the next step on the ladder for us.” The experience of entering the awards enabled Isaac’s to take a holistic view of where it has come from and where it is heading. “It was a time to really understand the ‘why’ of what we do. It has been an amazing experience to assess, analyse, and critique our strategies to transform the business into what it is today.” Daniel says that the process has given the company time to recognise all of the stakeholders who have been instrumental in its success as a business. Ranging from staff, clients, suppliers, and family members, each person’s value was recognised and appreciated. “This award was a truly special moment to reflect on everyone’s achievements.”
