Graham Harris’ experienced and technically able team has provided roading, subdivisions, demoli- tion, earthworks, and concrete services for private, commercial, and local authority clients since 1973. In 2017 Joe added an in-house drainage team, increasing total staff from 15 to 20. “Our drainage division means we are a whole package company,” Joe says. “Clients can use us for their whole project with one point of contact from start to finish, which is me.” Graham Harris can now include all drainage re- quirements in its work, from farm and culvert work to installing new sewer, storm water, and water in new subdivisions. The upgrade of trucks and machinery was a big focus for Joe, who wanted Graham Harris to make an impression with tidy and professional gear out on the road. New technology has come into the company with some of the brand new equipment, which have improved efficiencies both on the job and through repairs and maintenance schedules. Graham Harris trucks range from the small 3m³ up to 16m³ truck and trailers, a large range to suit all types of work. Excavators range from 1.5 tonne up to the monster 30 tonne digger, so the company is able to undertake any type of digger work to suit specific job requirements. Graham Harris is well known for undertaking demolition work around Taranaki, and as a special- ist in all types of machine demolition carries a range of rock breakers and grabs to suit both large and small excavators. Graham Harris maintains very good relationships with local construction companies which it works alongside to complete earthworks, site works, and construction on commercial projects, getting pro- jects finished on time and to a high standard. Having a wide range of resources means Graham Harris is able to carry out all types of site work projects, earthworks from large scale cut to fill, to terracing sections of simply clearing out the back yard. Graham Harris can also include construction work and retaining walls in its scope of works. The company recently completed the drainage, site works, and carparking for the new McDonald’s restaurant at Bell Block. Joe says Graham Harris’ roading experience includes some staff who have been laying down roads around the Taranaki region for more than 30 years. The company has now been engaged by Downer New Zealand with a 10-year maintenance contract on footpaths and kerb and channel for the New Plymouth District Council. Concrete is another specialist area for the Graham Harris team, which includes a full time concrete crew working on new driveways, patios, and paths, using exposed aggregate, stamped, and scribed concrete. As a New Plymouth District Council approved contractor, Graham Harris can construct new concrete vehicle crossings, has a kerbing machine for roading work and even a mini kerb machine for garden edges. “Clients can use us for their whole project with one point of contact from start to finish, which is me.”
