Branch Manager David Frank says when he gets a set of electrical drawing he interrogates them in depth to make sure he fully understands the detail and complexity of what he and his team will build for their client. “We work with clients to let them know what products are available so they can build something that suites their speci ic requirements, not something that will just get them by. Knowing what developments are available, keeping on top of changes in the market and what you can do for the bene it of your client is really exciting. And it’s really exciting to stand back to see what you have built and feel proud of it. Everything that you’ve done to get it to that stage has been part of your passion.” Over the two decades that David has been involved in the business it has evolved from undertaking medium sized commercial projects to large-scale commercial projects and more recently industrial size water treatment projects and electrical-for-mechanical services work including HVAC systems. “We carry out electrical design, construction, maintenance, general electrical servicing and breakdown work from the ground up including underground services, cabling once the framing is up right through to itout. Our primary focus now is to specialise in wastewater infrastructure work. We really like it, we’re really good at it and that’s an area of the business that we want to grow. We’ve completed a few water treatment plants for various companies now including Open Country Dairy in Matamata during Covid and our most recent project is Frimley Park and Waiaroha Water Plant upgrades for the Hastings District Council.” In addition to assisting with ine tuning of the project’s electrical solution, ICE Electrical has responsibility for the installation of cabling, motor control centres, programmable logic controller, panels, UPS systems, harmonic iltering, variable speed drives, and instrumentation for water lows, levels, temperatures and water quality. “When we put a bid in for the Frimley Park/Waiaroha projects we made the point that we wanted to use local Hawke’s Bay resources and that’s what we are doing. We are very aware of the need to support local.” ICE Electrical o ers its water treatment and HVAC expertise across New Zealand. Re lecting on Ice Electrical’s expansion into more challenging projects Dave says it has arisen through a reputation for doing a high-quality job, industry and product knowledge and helping clients achieve a project they may have thought might not have been achievable. “We’re just a very genuine, honest company capable of undertaking multiple disciplines within the electrical ield. There’s not too much that fazes us in terms of project complexity.”
