| 39 Central Hawke’s Bay: Centralines Lines firm enjoys continuing growth T T Kelly Deeks Centralines is building a new depot to house its expanding operation. REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT T T to page 40 C onsumer-owned and operated electric- ity lines firm Centralines is growing as the Central Hawke’s Bay district grows, providing the electrical infrastructure and the distribution of electricity since 1922. Centralines has continued to facilitate unprecedented growth in Central Hawke’s Bay in the past 12 months, connecting 179 new consumers and 40 solar distributed genera- tors, both increases on the previous year. Centralines general manager Jason Larkin says this year’s strong network performance has been driven by effective asset manage - ment practices and a highly capable team. Through a year of uncharted territory and added challenges brought on by Covid, Cen- tralines has continued to invest in its people with four new trainees joining the team, and has built on existing partnerships and forged new local partnerships contributing $156,000 to community initiatives. The start of construction on a new depot in Waipukurau was a key milestone during the year, and an important step in ensuring Cen- tralines remains well positioned to support further growth in the district. Centralines has outgrown its current premises and its new, purpose built depot is going to provide additional benefit to the community. “We are constructing the building in a way that its meeting rooms and boardroom can be used by the public,” says Jason.
