Centralines has been in its current location since the 1990s and now needs more space to ensure it can effectively cater to the needs of the district now, and as it continues to grow. The new building will be rated as a provider of emergency services. “We have obligations under the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act and we need to be able to operate in all types of weather and through any natural disasters,” Jason says. “The building will have a high seismic rating typical of emergency services so that when the chips are down, the site will be operational and we can continue to do our job.” Centralines is also preparing for further growth in the district, considering the possibil- ity of expanding or building new substations, and is continuing to look at renewable energy and how the firm can support or facilitate that in Central Hawke’s Bay.
