Tākina’s facades feature Sefar mesh glazed cladding. The enhanced thermal insulation and high performance double blazing of the façade is exceptional making it very energy efficient so the building will cost less to heat or cool. Sefar is basically a metallic mesh that gets laminat- ed with the glass. The glass was manufactured offshore then fabricated by local company Thermosash. The building features three levels with high stud heights varying from 5-7m metres. The ground floor will house a public exhibi- tion gallery, café and internal walkway linking Wakefield and Cable Streets ensuring the building will always be activated and plays a civic role for the city. The top two floors are dedicated to busi- ness events and conventions, both flexible meeting spaces with large operable walls meaning the rooms can be set sized according to the event needs.
