BUILDING A1homes - Kapiti-Horowhenua A 1homes Kapiti-Horowhenua is proud to be working on the Kapiti Coast as new motorway access makes it an af- fordable place for people to consider building, says franchise owner Cherie Wood. “We have a beautiful coastal environment, warmer climate and great community making it a great place to live,” she says. And it seems more people are exploring the potential of the region with A1homes fielding unprecedented levels of enquiry. It has recently teamed up with local de- veloper Lupin Developments and has been contracted to build 45 homes in the 215 Mill Road project in Otaki. Cherie says that 215 Mill Road will be a high-quality connected living environment with the design incorporating a tree-lined entrance, low speed road design, cycleway connections, and a local recreation reserve with fruit trees, toddler bike track, picnic table and seating. It will be released in three stages. Stage one includes 13 homes along with a local recreation reserve. It has already sold out and A1homes is about to start construction shortly on the first homes. But Cherie says people can register interest on the 215 Mill Road website for future releases. “We are really excited to be helping the housing shortage as this development is offering affordable new housing to the market targeting home owners and not investors,” she says. Cherie and husband Alan took over their A1 franchise in 2016 after Alan had previously worked for A1homes for 15 years in various roles amongst the group housing company. Since they took over they have introduced a number of digital platforms to enhance build efficiencies including an online portal custom - ers can log into to track their build. The team has now grown to 10 staff. “We are building Kiwi homes for Kiwis. All our staff are local and we use local products and suppliers where possible, as we love to support local. “This makes a big difference to our custom - ers as we know the local area, sites, soil condi- tions and environment well, which enables us to offer best advice.” A1homes offers a range of 65 plans, from 60 sq metres to 250 sq metres, which can be adapted to suit people’s individual needs. Cherie says A1homes focuses on offering a personal building experience. For example, a customer deals with just one sales consultant up until they are ready to start the construction phase of their project at which time a dedicated project manager will become their point of contact throughout their build. She says the nationwide buying power that a group build can offer means competitive prices for customers. Working closely with the Kapiti Coast Council is also important in ensur- ing an efficient build process for customers. A1homes Kapiti-Horowhenua has a new showhome built from one of the company’s new plans released just last year. The 131sqm home boasts four bedrooms and two bathrooms and demonstrates what can be achieved on a smaller site, says Cherie. A variety of spec options are showcased in the home so people can see what is possible. At the same location is the company office, which was the previous showhome, offering three bedrooms and one bathroom on a 100sqm floorplan. A1homes Kapiti-Horowhenua builds from Paekākāriki to Palmerston North and across to Whanganui. It is also about to expand into the Manawa- tu market and is planning a second show- home, which is due to open in Sanson in April 2022.
