Anthem Homes BUILDING F rom an intangible dream, the team at Anthem Homes guide and support their clients on a journey, forming memories along the way until a home is crafted and the client’s new life in their new home begins. “The team here don’t see Anthem Homes as a building company,” says Director Douw Van Der Merwe. “We see it more like a service entity and the build is a natural outcome of taking people on a journey. What we really focus on is the services and support that we provide the clients on the journey to achieving their dream.” Based in Hamilton, Anthem Homes’ roots go back two decades, founded on the principles of building quality homes, optimally designed for the section and buildability and with the client at the heart of the journey. “Many people don’t really understand the complexity of building a house and there’s a risk of overwhelming people, and then the journey is not enjoyable. So we focus a lot on the journey. For example, we might have a client who comes to us with a dream and a section. But that dream will never fit their sec - tion because of regulatory and planning con- straints. So we take them through the process of understanding that and then working with their dream so that it does fit their section.” Understanding the client’s personal drivers like lifestyle, family and friends or conveni- ence are key to making those small changes that will transform dream to reality. “The client will engage with one of our new home consultants who takes the lead in the process right up to the point where the contract will be signed and handed over to the construction team and support people who take them through the rest of the journey. The people in the office play a key role in the client’s journey, but the building team on site also understand those things that are impor- tant for the client they’re building for.” In addition to a full complement of sales, design, pricing, project and construction man- agement specialists looking after the client, Anthem Homes also has its own building team along with contract builders. Anthem Homes’ diverse client base ranges from grandparents wanting to downsize but stay close to their children and grandchildren, right through to people building a 400sqm high-end architectural homes in Raglan. “Our most common demographic would be parents raising children, with both parents working hard and holding down jobs, who just want a nice healthy home they can enjoy. “Right now, if you’re living in the Waikato it’s really hard to get land. Mostly we have sections on our books for which we have a tentative design. “Clients come to us if they like the section or the design. But we work with people who have sections as well as people who have seen home and land packages on our books. For a lot of people the home and land package is an easier option and we adjust the design to meet the client’s specific requirements.” Making beautiful dreams come to life throughout the Waikato, Anthem Homes recognises significant growth opportunities in both Cambridge and Te Awamutu townships and the outlying areas. “We have house and land packages in Te Awamutu’s Frontier Estate subdivision, but our involvement with Frontier is driven by the developers dream, which is a subdivision full of high rated healthy homes and that fits well with what Anthem is all about.” “We have a belief that first we need to treat each other well in the business and then we need to treat our trades well and if we do that it naturally flows to how we treat clients. When we move into a trust situation based on that relationship, that is when the journey takes place.
