It is this and the company’s extreme focus on quality that has seen it win gold every time it has entered the prestigious Master Builder’s House of the Year competition. 2020 saw the company take home the Su- preme Award along with six category awards for the Waikato region for a new home in Horahora. Craig is especially proud it is the second time the company has won the craftsmanship award. With views overlooking Lake Karapiro, Maungatautari and north up the Waikato Riv- er, Craig says the 375sqm modern home was challenging due to its sheer scale. Boasting four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two living areas the home has a number of distinct features including a wave ceiling designed and crafted by CJW Build. The ceiling crests the five metre high, 40 metre long ‘spine’ of the home, transporting people toward the river and the magnificent view. He says the home is cleverly designed with large sliding doors on both side of the main living, kitchen and dining areas opening to create a canopy feel. When opened the areas become one, giving great flexibility. He says the CJW Build team thrives on chal- lenges and creating homes with high levels of craftsmanship and this project provided plenty of scope for that. The interior materials exude luxury includ- ing textured tiles, Cedar battened ceilings, mixed and organic coloured kitchen surfaces and high quality fittings. Solar panels, up - graded insulation, underfloor heating and gas heating showcase the team’s ability to incor- porate the latest energy efficiency features. “We tend to specialise in architecturally de- signed homes because that’s what we love to do. Each home we create is truly unique and bespoke and this home is a great example of that,” he says. “We love pushing the boundaries between building and art to create truly beautiful homes that people love living in. Working with modern materials and the best designers and architects achieves truly exceptional results.” The CJW Build team also tackles renovation projects, but once again premium projects that can showcase the team’s attention to de- tail, high standards of workmanship and top quality sub contractors, that helps CJW Build achieve award winning results. Craig says that he has a passionate team of workers and he is on site himself to ensure strict quality control and deal with any issues that might come up quickly and efficiently. “Clients like it that I’m there on site. I want to make sure it’s done well – not only by my guys but by everyone on site – and it also ensures a really personal building experience for my clients.” CJW Build employs a team of 15 including fully qualified builders, apprentices and office staff. Communication is a key aspect of every project. “Our extensive experience and out- standing industry relationships mean we can help our clients to confidently navigate the building process. “Great communication is key to our work — we listen, we get the details right, and we communicate clearly every step of the way.” Craig brings with him over 30 years experi- ence. He completed his apprenticeship in the commercial sector and travelled extensively overseas, working in the United Kingdom. “I came back to build the best homes in Wai- kato and I am always working towards that.
