Led by managing director Hannes White, Reset Group is a collection of specialist businesses spanning construction, electrical, data and security, plumbing, decorating, and now, automation. Reset Group’s story began in 2019 with the launch of Reset Electrical. “We saw a real gap at that point,” Hannes says. “Often, we’d go to do electrical work, but the builders weren’t on-site, or would delay, so we couldn’t do our part. Clients were being let down, and we wanted to fix that.” So Reset Construction was formed with Taylar Greville to bridge this gap and keep projects flowing smoothly. This wasn’t about becoming a massive building company, but about maintaining control and reliability. Teaming up with Deane Brewer, a seasoned builder with 30 years’ experience in Hawke’s Bay, helped bring the vision to life. The construction arm now handles everything from residential builds to commercial projects, including complex work like earthquake strengthening. When another opportunity arose in the data and security sector, Reset took it, bringing in a contractor, who had run his own business for eight years and was ready to take it to another level. That business has since expanded to a team of six, bolstered by the acquisition of Hawke’s Bay Security, a trusted local name for 25 years. The merger strengthened Reset Data & Security’s footprint and reputation. In January 2025, Reset Plumbing joined the fold, built on acquisitions and partnerships with small but skilled local operators. “We’ve gone from just one plumber to five, growing steadily by subcontracting work and recruiting motivated tradespeople,” Hannes says. Similarly, Reset Decorating was established to ensure clients have access to high-quality finishing services. “Decorating often gets overlooked, but it’s vital. The market had gaps, so we stepped in, keeping the team lean and competent.” The latest venture, Reset Automation, signals a bold leap into electrical engineering and human machine interphase (HMI). Partnering with automation engineer Scott Albiston, the company is now designing, building and maintaining automation solutions in the industrial sector nationwide. “It’s a bit left field for us, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. “We bought Scott’s customer base from his previous employer, so there’s no conflict and it was the correct way to do it,” Hannes explains. “We’re investing heavily back into the business, and this is an exciting next chapter.” For customers, the big selling point of Reset Group is the convenience and efficiency of working with one trusted main contractor, who manages all trades in-house. “This arrangement removes the headaches involved in juggling multiple subcontractors,” Hannes says. “Our project managers handle everything, from safety compliance to coordinating each trade so the work flows smoothly,” Hannes says. “Clients don’t have to worry about lining up separate contractors. We do all the heavy lifting.” Responsiveness is another cornerstone of the Reset approach. The group prides itself on prompt, clear communication and a strict ‘on-time’ policy.
