Dodge Contracting REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT For 36 years, Dodge Contracting Ltd has been a cornerstone of civil infrastructure across Hawke’s Bay. Based in Pakowhai and proudly family-owned, the company was founded by Tim and Vicki Dodge with a simple goal – to deliver high-quality civil contracting services with reliability, integrity, and hands-on experience. Decades later, that mission still drives the business, now with their son Matt Dodge on board as an operator and co-owner, and a loyal team of 10 employees keeping projects moving across the region. The business has grown from a small earthworks provider into a fully fledged, family-owned civil contracting firm known for high-quality work and versatile skills, especially when it counts most. “We’re more than just earthworks,” says Tim, who has over 40 years in the trade. “We’re civil contractors and also pathway builders. So, we build outdoor structures, bridges, walkways, you name it. If it’s infrastructure, we’re there.” Their reputation for delivering top-tier work has earned them a strong client base, including Hastings District Council, Hawke’s Bay Regional Council, DOC, and a range of private developers. Tim estimates that around 80% of the company’s projects are for local councils and government agencies, with the rest made up of private civil work, such as subdivisions and rural property. The company’s service range is broad. They are called on for everything from earthworks and site levelling and pile driving to drain cleaning, cartage, auguring, and pathway construction. They also maintain national cycling tracks and offer traffic management services, and a full equipment hire service for its fleet of excavators, trucks, bulldozers, and bobcats. Their well-maintained heavy machinery fleet is ready to tackle anything from subdivision groundwork to large-scale civil infrastructure projects. Their 24/7 emergency callout service provides crucial support following storm events, with Dodge Contracting called on to clear river mouths and repair damaged infrastructure for councils across the region. Another standout capability is their specialist track and trail building. Tim holds a Master Track Multi-Qualification, a credential that allows him to construct and sign off high-specification walkways and structures in sensitive or protected environments. “We’re currently assisting with the construction of national walkways on Mount Ruapehu, and a couple of bridge-building and walkway projects in Ohakune,” he says. “Being a master track builder means we’re trusted to do the job right and sign off on national- grade structures.” Dodge Contracting’s reputation is backed by industry accolades, including back-to-back wins at the Civil Contractors New Zealand Hawke’s Bay Branch Awards in 2014 and 2015 (Under $200,000 category). These awards speak to the team’s ability to consistently deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions. “We’re a one-stop-shop,” says Tim. “We do our own engineering, our own builds, and we do it all to a very high standard. That’s why we’ve got six months of work lined up. People wait for us because they know the quality they’re getting.” For Hawke’s Bays largest range of Tyres Keeping Hawke’s Bay Rolling 100% LOCALLY OWNED & OPERATED 47 Austin Street, Napier 06 843 9119 onekawa@baytyres.co.nz 027 848 2170 | farmgearrural.co.nz Proudly supporting Dodge Contracting Ltd Supplying all things rural with delivery anywhere in Hawke’s Bay available.
