Directors Mark and Yvonne Clark launched Metal Craft Xtreme from their home in 2020 with a CNC plasma cutter and CNC water jet. Since then, the company has grown steadily and has recently invested in a CNC laser cutter to boost production capacity. “We really want to let people know we’re here for them,” Yvonne says. “With another similar company closing down, there are a lot of people looking for these services, and they might not know we’re here.” That company, Fineline Services, closed its doors at the end of June and left a large hole in the market for plasma, laser, and waterjet profile cutting. Its sudden closure left customers scrambling for a new provider, and Metal Craft Xtreme has already welcomed some of its experienced team members onboard. “We’ve now got two full-time staff from Fineline,” Yvonne says. “One who worked in the office doing all their quoting and she’s now working with us, and one who ran the CNC and has come over too after 16 years’ experience there. Another of their team is now helping us get our new laser up and running, and we’re looking to bring him on board as well.” That boost in skilled staff has allowed Metal Craft Xtreme to expand its service offering and take on urgent jobs, something the team prides itself on. “We don’t charge extra for urgent work,” Yvonne says. “We know what it’s like when you need something done quickly to keep a job moving.” Metal Craft Xtreme specialises in CNC plasma and waterjet cutting, with capacity to cut material from 0.7mm up to 40mm in certified grades including GR300, GR350, aluminium, stainless steel, and boilerplate. All holes in material thicker than 10mm are drilled for quality. The business also carries out small-scale engineering work as well as machining on the lathe, CAD design and drafting, and custom production runs. Yvonne says many customers are now finding they can get their high-turnover products made in-house at Metal Craft Xtreme for a lower price than they’re currently buying them in for, giving them a better margin on every job. Metal Craft Xtreme also produces a popular line of garden furniture and metal art, including fencing panels, gates, bollards, braziers, planter boxes, and outdoor fires. Many are made from corten steel or powder coated to customer preference. This sideline began during COVID-19 and was sustained through regular appearances at Sunday markets and A&P shows. The products remain available online and continue to be well received. With the new CNC laser now operational and a growing team of highly experienced staff, Yvonne says Metal Craft Xtreme is well positioned to help those clients left without a supplier. “Our difference is in our speed, reliability, and quality,” she says. “We quote fast, usually within four to six hours, and deliver a finished product that people can rely on. We’re a small family business, but we’re growing, and we’re here to help.”
