76 | Joinery firm favours timber for its work In 2 Kitchens covers the full scope of kitchen and joinery work – from concept design through to manufacture and installation. JOINERY In2 Kitchens T T Bernadette Cooney “We’re very much about customised solutions for every project scale, and providing our clients an honest and trustworthy experience throughout.” Designer and manufacturer of double-glazed timber window and door systems, as well as custom timber kitchen and joinery solutions, In 2 Kitchens Ltd of Stratford, Taranaki has been crafting quality products since 2007. Family owned and founded by Brent and Jo Russ, the company has a small but highly skilled team, who are the only 4211 certified timber joiners south of New Plymouth, a certification mark of quality that ensures their timber windows meet New Zealand’s stringent building standards. In 2 Kitchens covers the full scope of kitchen and joinery work – from concept design through to manufacture and installation. Their services span custom kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, stairs, shop counters, laundry cabinetry, and even bespoke fittings for all manner of purposes including campervans and horse floats. “There’s no job too small for us,” says Brent. “We’re very much about customised solutions for every project scale, and providing our clients an honest and trustworthy experience throughout.” In 2 Kitchens partners with Thermawood, a leading Australasian supplier of double-glazed timber solutions that are also 4211 certified. “Thermawood is an excellent product for double-glazed timber window and door systems, both retrofit and new,” says Brent, who is a strong advocate for timber over aluminium joinery. “Timber doesn’t sweat like aluminium does. It’s a natural insulator and has lower thermal conductivity than aluminium, so it helps keep your home warmer and drier,” he says. Whether it’s upgrading century-old villa joinery, or fitting out new residential or commercial builds, Thermawood ensures thermal performance, longevity, and style. A recent project in Opunake showcased this perfectly. Brent’s team installed double-glazed timber windows in a heritage home, directly across from a similar house fitted with aluminium. “Ours look really good. Like they belong there,” says Brent. “Double-glazed window systems with weatherproof seals around them, so there are no condensation issues.” Their design process uses 3D kitchen planning software to map out exactly what clients want. “I do a plan, and in consultation with the client we will fine tune it until we get the final look.” The approach is collaborative and stressfree, with Brent guiding clients from first sketch through to final installation, and even coordinating other sub-trades. “I don’t ask for your budget. It’s not for me to decide what you can and can’t afford,” says Brent. “I’d rather educate you on your best options so you can make informed choices. It’s about being more transparent.” The In 2 Kitchens team includes two fulltime, fully qualified joiners, in addition to Brent and Jo. “They’re very dedicated to doing a fantastic job with a great eye for detail, and they understand that how they work today creates tomorrow’s jobs,” Brent says. “They play an important part in our business, and our clients often comment on how well they work together.” In 2 Kitchens’ reputation with Taranaki builders is also robust. “Bad word travels fast in smaller towns,” Brent says. “We have a good reputation with local builders because we do a good job, and they enjoy working with us.” 027 672 3143 a.k.larsen@xtra.co.nz adanlarsenbuilders.co.nz WE CATER FOR ALL YOUR BUILDING REQUIREMENTS Exceptional quality workmanship, value for money, a exible approach, a focus on your needs and great communication.
