T T Anne Boswell For every subdivision he has crafted as a co-owner of development company Condor Homes, and owner of H G Nitschke Builders, he has left a legacy of quality workmanship and strong relationships with the families who make up the community he has helped establish. Condor Homes was formed when Hayden, who established H G Nitschke Builders around 15 years ago, joined forces with a business partner to develop and build residential subdivisions. The partnership combines land development with Hayden’s proven building expertise, with H G Nitschke Builders constructing each home for Condor Homes. The venture has already enjoyed considerable success. Its first subdivision, located close to Feilding’s town centre, featured compact, low-maintenance townhouses designed primarily for retirees and older couples looking to downsize without compromising on quality or convenience. The homes sold quickly, reflecting strong demand for thoughtfully designed properties that offered an easier lifestyle while remaining close to local amenities. Building on that success, Condor Homes is now developing a second subdivision on the outskirts of Feilding. This project caters to a different market, with larger three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes designed for growing families who want more space both inside and out. “It will be interesting to see how these homes go on the market,” Hayden says. “We’ve had a good run so far.” While the style of subdivisions differs, Hayden’s approach remains the same; every project is built with a commitment to quality craftsmanship, honest communication and genuine care for the people who will eventually call the house home. “If an issue arises, I want the customer to feel comfortable enough to talk to me,” Hayden says. “I’m not just a builder, I’m a person who cares about their home, and their community.” For Hayden, handing over the keys is not the end of the process. He prides himself on staying in touch with homeowners after construction is complete, creating friendships that continue well beyond settlement day. It is a personal approach that sets both him and Condor Homes apart in an industry where relationships can often end once the build is finished. Behind every successful build is the dedicated team at H G Nitschke Builders. Hayden is passionate about mentoring the next generation of tradespeople and takes a hands-on approach to training his apprentices. “I teach them myself,” he says. “I’m on the tools with them, Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm. I want to teach them my way.” As Condor Homes forges ahead on its latest subdivision, ably supported by H G Nitschke Builders, both companies’ visions remain refreshingly simple: build quality homes, stand behind every project and, most importantly, build relationships that last just as long as the homes themselves.
