T T Kelly Deeks “We are focused on our people, their growth, and making sure they are supported to do their best work in what is a demanding industry.” Assurity Consulting has been named a finalist in the Employer of the Year category at the Wellington Gold wards, recognising its strong people-first culture, commitment to employee wellbeing, and focus on developing high performing teams across its New Zealand and offshore operations. General manager - people Katie Ham says the nomination reflects a deliberate strategy built around creating a supportive workplace where consultants are enabled to deliver quality outcomes for clients, while maintaining strong wellbeing and career development. “What makes us a good employer is really embedded in how we operate every day,” Katie says. “We are focused on our people, their growth, and making sure they are supported to do their best work in what is a demanding industry.” Assurity Consulting works as an independent voice of quality for organisations undertaking major digital transformation. Its consultants specialise in quality engineering and assurance, helping clients de-risk changes to core systems such as payroll, finance, and customer platforms. The company focuses on ensuring new systems behave as intended in real world conditions, including testing how customers actually interact with digital services rather than how systems are assumed to be used. Katie says this work is particularly important during large scale system upgrades where organisations are replacing legacy platforms or introducing new digital services. “We are effectively making sure that when organisations launch new systems, they actually work as expected in the real world,” she says. “That includes data integrity, system performance, and ensuring customer journeys are seamless even when people do not follow expected paths.” Assurity Consulting has delivered work across major public sector organisations, including a longstanding relationship with Inland Revenue, where it supported one of New Zealand’s largest ever digital transformation programmes. The company is now the test partner in the consortium working with the Ministry of Social Development on streamlining social service delivery through improved digital systems. Founded in Wellington in 2005, Assurity Consulting now operates across New Zealand, Australia, and the Philippines, with more than 160 staff and over 130 consultants delivering quality assurance and quality engineering services. The business has supported more than 250 organisations and successfully delivered more than 2000 complex projects. In February 2026, Assurity Consulting entered a new growth phase after being acquired by Aspire Systems. Katie says the acquisition has strengthened capability while retaining the company’s local focus. “It has given us access to global scale, advanced AI testing frameworks, and a much larger network of expertise, but it has not changed who we are or how we do business,” she says. Assurity also relies on long-term partnerships with suppliers such as iTops, which Katie says has supported the business throughout its growth. “Our hardware and infrastructure partners are critical to what we do. We cannot deliver our work without that support, and iTops has been with us for a long time,” she says. Over the past 18 months, Assurity Consulting has enjoyed rapid growth, increasing revenue and headcount while maintaining low staff turnover compared to wider industry averages. Katie says this reflects an excellent track record with successful projects and a deliberate focus on the employee experience. “Our people strategy is simple,” she says. “Brilliant people; connected, enabled, and unleashed. We recruit people with awesome talent and strong values. “If we take care of them and develop them, they provide huge value to our clients and make Assurity Consulting an even better place to work.”
