T T Virginia Wright Talima Estate, on the eastern edge of the well-established suburban area of Whitby, less than 10 minutes’ drive from Porirua City, is the new development by Fiso Group. The Fiso Group has deep ties with Porirua through its longstanding commitment to education, health, housing, sport and economic development, including owning Whitby Collegiate, an independent secondary school not far from Talima Estate. Talima Estate is testament to their belief in Porirua’s potential as part of the wider Wellington region. “Talima Estate is more than just a subdivision. Earthworks are underway for its first stage of 35 lots from a total of 84 sections all with direct access to the Transmission Gully Motorway and less than 20 minutes’ drive to Wellington during non-peak traffic. Being developed in what was formerly a forestry area sections will range in size from 420sqm to 5000sqm, each designed to make the most of the area’s varied topography and the elevation that offers extensive outlooks. Each section will have a level, serviced platform ready for building to start, with the surrounding area a mix of landscaped planting and, where it hasn’t been disturbed, regenerating native bush. With over 25 years’ experience in land development and construction, including with Aurecon, qualified cadastral surveyor James Lynch is overseeing the design and delivery of the infrastructure for Talima Estate’s 84 homes. He says he is proud to be helping create a community that makes the most of its elevated north and north-west aspects, with views across Whitby to the Pauatahanui Inlet. “The whole area provides good, connected, family living. This development extends the Whitby community over the hill, with provision for open, sunny, standalone homes and a design guide developed with local knowledge that will protect values for years to come,” says James. “The earlier Whitby subdivisions were developed in the mid to late 90s, and Talima Estate is the remainder of what was Silverwood Forest,” he says. “This is the last bit of land in what is a popular and well-established area which has been developed over the last 30 years, and which now has easy access to everything thanks to Transmission Gully.” Stage One includes a level play area and picnic areas for public use with planting designed to offer shade as it becomes established. People living in Talima Estate will be within easy reach of Whitby’s shops, schools and recreational amenities, as well as everything Pauatahanui inlet has to offer. Kapiti Coast’s swimming and surfing beaches are only a short drive away.
