Boris completed his apprenticeship at Pro-Structure after leaving school, and now has over a decade of building experience to offer clients. Both father and son are licensed building practitioners, and Boris also brings with him expertise in 3D modelling, ensuring a full service for clients. Together, the Fyfes oversee every project Pro-Structure undertakes with a hands-on approach. “Our goal is always to come up with design solutions that are tailored to each client’s requirements,” says Boris. “That also means making sure the design actually works in the real world, not just on a screen.” Richard began his career as a subcontractor to a pre-cut factory, but his qualifications and ambition quickly took him beyond that. As demand for his services grew he took on staff and began tackling increasingly complex builds. The transition from sole trader to limited company was a natural evolution, and Pro-Structure today offers construction across the residential, commercial, industrial, educational and structural- strengthening sectors. Pro-Structure’s touch is evident all over Hawke’s Bay. It completed the large-scale build of the Napier Mitre 10 Mega, including a world-class garden centre and undercover drive-through. The company also delivered a 1400sqm retail build in Hastings for Master Trade. For Turners and Growers at Whakatu, Pro-Structure delivered an office block, drawing on the region’s Spanish Mission and Art Deco heritage. In the wake of the 2016 Havelock North water crisis, Pro-Structure was engaged to construct two separate water-treatment plants in Hastings, at Frimley and Waiaroha. Pro-Structure has several projects running simultaneously across the region. In Napier’s Bluff Hill, the company has just completed a year-long renovation that involved a full re-roof and reclad, extensive internal works, the installation of a lift, and new aluminium joinery. Another recent completion was a full reroof and interior makeover at Busby Hill in Havelock North. The roof featured curved cedar shingle gables and required careful reshaping, while the interior of the century-old home presented the full gamut of surprises that come with older buildings, including rotten and fire-damaged timber requiring removal, and structural-strengthening works. On the commercial side, Pro-Structure is currently undertaking concrete remedial works on a local industrial project. Last year, it completed an internal renovation and external wall cladding project for the Gold Pine retail store in Hastings. It also finished the concrete-strengthening works in the James Strong Building in Hastings, a building that Richard himself had originally built.
