BUILDING Stroud Homes - Auckland South Always reliable, available, and providing a high quality service and innovative electrical solutions, young business Voltsy Electrical has grown rapidly in its irst three years of business, and this is only the beginning. Owned by Braedan Gri in, a quali ied electrician of some six years’ experience including some time in Europe, Voltsy Electrical was started in 2020 when Braedan come home from Sweden due to Covid. “At that time, I couldn’t ind any employment,” he says. “There was so much uncertainty in the market, people were losing jobs, and no one was hiring. I didn’t have a choice but to start my own company - it was the only way I could generate work.” Braedan was relentless in generating work, initially picking up small building and maintenance contracts and continuing to push for more and bigger jobs. After 11 months, Braedan hired his irst full-time electrician. “Then I repeated what I had done in the irst year. I won the Emerging Business Award from Master Electricians and hired my second employee, an apprentice, at the end of the second year.” The culture of the electrical industry in Sweden has inspired Braedan to be understanding and empathetic with his employee and apprentice. “When I was an apprentice, we got told o a lot. In Sweden, they would sit you down and Voltsy Electrical - charging up explain what you did so you could learn from it. That’s what I've been doing with my apprentice. I give him directions but let him make his own decisions on how to do it. That way he can learn critical thinking without relying on me to tell him what to do.” On a client’s recommendation, Voltsy Electrical has been working with Stroud Homes Auckland South for about six months and has recently brought automation to Stroud’s brand new show home at Monument Road in Clevedon. Voltsy Electrical partnered with Schneider Electric to automate the house with PDL Wiser switchgear, bringing control, functionality, safety, and energy e iciency bene its to the home. “You can set up and control these things called ‘moments’, a series of actions that can be automatically triggered once pre-set conditions are met. For example in the media room we have automatic blinds, and a freestanding table lamp plugged in to a smart power point.
