BUILDING New enthusiasm in the building sector across Waikato points to a positive year for new developments across the region, with Hamilton design-and-build company Feature Build poised to deliver new homes and renovations of value and distinction. Feature Build is owned and operated by Andy and Katrina Parton, who balance the demands of running a business with raising their two young sons, aged five and three. Along with high-quality craftsmanship, Andy and his close-knit build crew take pride in delivering tailored building solutions and a personal and precise service from concept to completion. “Renovations and new builds, that’s our jam,” says Andy, a licensed building practitioner and Master Builder with 24 years’ carpentry experience, both here and abroad. “Anyone can build a house, but we craft a home,” says Andy. “We’re a smaller company, and that allows us to be very client focused.” Feature Build is currently wrapping up a stunning custom home in the Rangatahi subdivision, near Raglan. Built for a project manager from Auckland, the home was designed with remote work and relaxation in mind. The client wanted a place outside of Auckland where he could work remotely and still travel to the city several days a week. The sprawling two-bedroom, two-bathroom home is 80sqm, with a 120sqm covered area, including a deck. “The timber-framed, pole-constructed home features a black iron-cladding exterior with cedar accents and large opening doors out on to the deck. It’s got a lot of street appeal. It also has a Tesla electric car charging station at the front of the house he can drive up to and plug in,” Andy explains. “We worked together to adjust aspects of the design, reducing unnecessary land cuts and retaining walls while still delivering the house he wanted.” Another notable project Andy and his team have built is the Te Puna House, a striking modern residence built into a hilltop valley. With its clean lines and concealed features, the home exudes seclusion and sophistication. Inside, it boasts black negative-detail birch plywood, exposed structural steel, and hardwood floors. One of its most intriguing elements is a hidden room designed as a secure vault. “The laundry unit was actually on rollers and secured with a magnetic latch. Once released, it revealed a bank safe vault door leading into a secure space,” says Andy. An example of a transformative renovation from Feature Build is Norma Place in Hamilton – a 1960s’ split-level home, fully renovated with modern, open-plan living, including a large 60sqm, first-floor kwila deck overlooking a gully at the rear of the house. With ongoing projects in Te Awamutu and Tamahere, Feature Build remains a trusted name. They continue to forge trade partnerships with subcontractors, including newly signed on J.P Decorating of Huntly. “Again, a smaller crew with good attention to detail,” says Andy. As the Waikato region continues to grow, Feature Build is ready to take on the next challenge, transforming homes and lives one project at a time. 169 Ellis Street, Frankton • 18 Lake Street, Cambridge Proudly supporting Feature Build o ce@expert ooring.co.nz • cambridge@expert ooring.co.nz Hamilton: (07) 849 0173 • Cambridge: (07) 827 7043 www.expert ooring.co.nz Proudly supporting Feature Build 022 074 6650 | jpdecorators01@gmail.com Specialising in quality interior, exterior, residential & commercial painting in the Waikato
