The company is now offering new transportable housing solutions, proudly delivering more affordable housing for local people, as the sole deliverer of Metra Construction Panel housing from Auckland through to Kaitaia. “We believe this system is the future of building in New Zealand and we are privileged to be part of it,” Dave says. “Prefabrication is increasingly being seen as the future of affordable construction in New Zealand, due to its cost-effectiveness, speed, and efficiency. “Our buildings constructed using Metra Panel experience no delays from weather or materials. We get the walls and ceilings up within three days, weathertight within two weeks, and can be completed in as little as six weeks.” Metra Construction Panels, in particular, are becoming the premium product for transportable housing across New Zealand, their speed, strength, and sustainability making them a preferred choice for modern construction. Dave really likes their composition, saying Metra Panel is a very robust product, with the large-format panels providing a more rigid structure that remains dimensionally stable over time, unlike traditional timber framing, which can move, warp, and shrink. “These panels are pre-cut with a CNC machine, which gives you near-perfect dimensional accuracy, and that’s what we wanted.” 0274 966 141 kawakawaelectrical@outlook.co.nz Kawakawa Electrical Ltd Providing our community & beyond with all electrical services. Off-site manufacturing offers us a way to increase cost savings. “When we build off-site, we build with a systemised approach, which allows us to create a lot of efficiencies in our build process, and reduce that overall cost.” At its Northland workshop, Reid Builders is now building 24 transportable homes for the Kaitaia Iwi Housing Project, providing a range of three- and four-bedroom family homes from 104sqm all the way up to 129sqm. Currently able to build six transportable homes at a time at its yard in Ngawha Innovation and Enterprise Park, Reid Builders is now in discussions with the park’s owner and manager, Far North Holdings, and looking to secure a new factory in the next 18 months. “We really want to do more,” Dave says. Reid Builders is a family business with solid family values, and it builds long-lasting relationships with its clients. “This is imperative to how we operate and we have a proven track record of happy clients who have loved working with us.” Reid Builders has the capability and resources to offer full-service construction of residential and commercial projects from draft concept to final build. The company’s upper management has more than 150 years of combined experience in the construction industry, and its clients can be assured they are dealing with experienced professionals, who work to the highest standards attainable.
