Facilitate Group T T Sue Russell REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT When Estian du Plooy of Tauranga-based Facilitate Group saw a void in the commercial property facilities management sector to offer clients a comprehensive suite of highly organised services, he poured all his highly tuned business acumen into the challenge. That was only a matter of four years ago in 2021, and his experiences very quickly proved he had hit the nail on the head, because in each ensuing year, Facilitate Group established a new business entity, allied to the group’s founding vision and purposes. “What I have discovered from our clients, including retirement villages, ports, Ministry of Education, body corporates, city councils, to name a few, is that they want to know, with one phone call, all their property maintenance and renovation needs can be met, and they want to know those services will be delivered on time, without any fuss and to the highest professional standards. Our clients also say that Facilitate Group are seen as ‘the problem solvers’,” Estian says. Facilitate Group’s story is one of hard-won success based on careful analysis of what each sector needs, and to achieve this, Estian has surrounded himself with a team of expert professionals, who collectively form the support-management hub from which the service arms of the company can operate as efficiently as possible. These services include fit-out and renewals, electrical, painting, building washing, landscaping, reactive jobs and signage for the local commercial and industrial sectors. This means that, for example, in the case of a retirement village, when a villa or apartment is due for complete refurbishing as happens periodically, Facilitate Group can deliver every service required to achieve that outcome. “To give you a sense of this journey, just in this sector alone, since establishing, we’ve completed over 4200 jobs and 220 home renovations in a turnaround space of two weeks per home.” Estian says the success of the business has come down to an openness to engage with clients by asking them exactly what their biggest property-related stresses are and finding a solution. “Their answer was, when you’re dealing with individual contractors, there are often significant time delays, which push every other element of that project back. This is why what Facilitate Group offers has turned this negative around. We deliver certainty.” The company is nimble as well, working at times in a subcontracting role on large projects with one or several of its specialisations. “Our teams on the ground are extremely well resourced and supported by our management hub at an organisational level, so they can just get on and get the job done. We have implemented a strong administrative and pricing framework supported by advanced software systems.” The focus of work is in the commercial space, including servicing property and asset managers, who in turn are responsible for a bundle of assets. Core beliefs have created the foundation on which the business stands today: transparency, honesty and quality. Estian says the journey of the past four years has proven just what can be achieved when a group of like-minded, purposeful, quality-driven and engaged individuals, all bent on delivering exceptional service to their clients, come together. “I’m enormously proud of everyone who is part of Facilitate Group. Each brings their unique skills and passion to the table. “This is why we have achieved what we have and, given our journey to date, there’s plenty more to come.” Estian says the general public are often unclear about the range of services Facilitate Group offers. “People see our vehicles throughout Tauranga, but are unsure of precisely what we do. I can assure you that we handle projects of all sizes and nature. Over the past four years, we’ve learned the importance of accepting all types of work, as smaller jobs often lead to larger opportunities.” Estian’s interest in supporting businesses to succeed goes beyond his own company. Along with two other local people, he has launched ‘Tauranga Business Link’, aimed at connecting like-minded entrepreneurs eager to expand their enterprises. Tauranga Business Link hosts monthly meetups featuring guest speakers that share their experiences with the group. In the past, the group has welcomed representatives from accounting firms, financial advisors, social media experts, chamber members, and the banking sector to share their knowledge and provide guidance on business challenges and opportunities. “We are particularly excited about this year’s meet-ups, as we have several renowned speakers lined up, who are prominent figures in the Tauranga business community.” • SCAFFOLDING • ROOF EDGE PROTECTION • SHRINKWRAPS • SAFETY NETS • SITE FENCING 07 570 3040 OR 021 680 555 safeplank.co.nz PROUD TO BE WORKING WITH THE TEAM AT FACILITATE DESIGN • MANUFACTURING • INSTALLATION • MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR 49 Aerodrome Road, Mt Maunganui Tauranga, Bay of Plenty 9 021 197 7324 027 392 0568 m ursa.co.nz WE OFFER A COMPREHENSIVE RANGE OF SERVICES TO MEET YOUR DIVERSE METAL-RELATED PROJECT NEEDS Meticulous.
