Bridgeman Concrete T T Kelly Deeks CONSTRUCTION Coming up 60 years in business, Bridgeman Concrete has cemented a solid reputation for impeccable yet down-toearth customer service, then adding technology to produce some of the best concrete in the country. Bridgeman Concrete is a family-owned business operating six North Island plants, with more than 70 trucks, and 100 employees, producing concrete products and concreting services into the commercial, residential, and civil construction sectors, as well as providing project-management services. Looking for improvements in production speed, waste reduction, and the delivery of consistent quality, Bridgeman Concrete has developed the AiR Bridge batching system, and is once again leading the concrete game in digital technology. “We’ve got to move with the digital age, and we see our new AiR Bridge technology as the future,” says Bridgeman Concrete national sales manager Cam Boulton. “It’s new to the industry, and we are keen to be the innovators of it.” AiR Bridge is now taking control of the batching process to quickly and accurately measure and collect the required grades of aggregate, sand, and additives before the mix is transferred to the concrete truck and combined with cement and water. “We are consistently delivering on both speed and quality, and that’s what it’s all about in the concrete game.” Bridgeman Concrete was established in 1967 as Hastings Ready Mix in the Hawke’s Bay by local builder John Bridgeman, in order to supply his own concrete for his Post Office lines depot project. With a lot of industry contacts and several friends in the construction industry, he quickly became the concrete supplier of choice for many of the Bay’s building and infrastructure projects. “Bridgeman Concrete was initially built firmly and solely on its fantastic reputation amongst the local construction community,” Cam says. The 1980s saw Bridgeman Concrete expand into Tauranga, the 1990s into Hamilton, then Rotorua, then Auckland in 1999, where it has since grown to three Bridgeman Concrete plants. Bridgeman Concrete has the vision of being an industry leader and has followed this through into practical innovations on multiple occasions. In the low-carbon space, Bridgeman Concrete produces the lowest-carbon concrete in New Zealand. Replacing some of the high-carbon cement component with concrete slag, BFS blast furnace slag – a by-product of steel production, Bridgeman Concrete creates a stronger and more durable concrete, Eco-Max, with anywhere from 20% to 65% less carbon. Bridgeman Concrete has pledged to offer only low-carbon concrete solutions for all projects interested in creating a sustainable option, and is looking to offer carbon-neutral concrete by 2035, and to become a carbon-neutral company by 2040. On the quality side, Bridgeman Concrete uses Verifi, which monitors and controls concrete while in transit, and ensures a consistent quality slump from the moment it leaves the plant until it arrives on site. 0508 524 7272 orders@kaipara.co.nz www.brookbyquarry.co.nz www.smythesquarry.co.nz rookby Quarries Ltd mythes Quarries Ltd Supplying high quality aggregate to Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Coromandel & Waikato region.
