Aurora Process Solutions T T Russell Fredric ENGINEERING Technology that looks like something out of Star Trek is an everyday reality at industrial packaging systems company Aurora Process Solutions. A family-owned business, Aurora Process Solutions is a specialist in total solutions end-of-line packaging of solids for a variety of manufacturing industries. The company provides automated systems for sectors such as grain and seed, milling, stockfeed, fertiliser landscape product and cement manufacturers. The systems can include robotics and packaging solutions from international partners or from Aurora’s own range of Australasian manufactured equipment. Sales and marketing manager Braden Goddin says the family ownership tangibly influences the business’ ethos and its customer relationships “and the length we go to to provide a solution for our clients and support them in the best way possible.” This includes helping a business to evaluate the return on investment and other critical considerations, right through to preparing virtual product experiences and demonstrations. Technology Aurora has invested in includes 3D printing to create models of packing systems and HoloLens, a holographic mixed-reality headset that even Dr. Spock might raise an eyebrow to. HoloLens is used as a design and planning tool to show customers, virtually with the HoloLens headset, how their packaging system will look in-situ through the headset using graphics created by Aurora’s design team. HoloLens is not a virtual reality VR headset; its lenses are transparent and overlay virtual objects on the real world environment. Braden emphasises Aurora’s systems are not only for large scale businesses with high outputs, so investing in the HoloLens technology is equally beneficial to smaller operations. “There’s small enterprises that are starting to automate, especially now that manual labour is difficult to resource and retain.” “Especially these days, firstly they need the confidence and want to see what they are actually getting, what it looks like in their factory and secondly a lot are rural-based away from main centres and they want reassurance if something goes wrong. That pointed us down this path.” Through its international suppliers, Aurora has access to a vast array of filling, bag closing palletising and pallet wrapping and hooding equipment, conveying and accessories and consumables such as carton packaging. “We import all the key components and we also build all the infrastructure to join them together here in New Zealand and Australia. We also do have a range of equipment ourselves that we build in-house, we’ve always had that capability.” FOOD/DAIRY | PROCESS PIPING | FABRICATION | INSTALLATION A satisfied customer is the best business strategy of all 021 446 911 • www.dfiengineering.co.nz TMGCloudland are one of NZ’s leadingmanaged service providers, partneringwith businesses to drive efficiency and productivity through beautifully simple IT.
