Stage three of one of the Far North’s largest living well communities – Te Puna Waiora – is now on sale and will offer 26 villas to the market. Residents have already moved into the first two stages, which comprise 39 villas, and Arvida project manager for the development Mike Korzeniewski says that the aim is for Te Puna Waiora to become a part of the wider community, providing important services to retirees whether they live there or not. The 8-10 year project at 59 Hall Road, Kerikeri, will comprise 10 stages and when completed will include a clubhouse, wellness centre and care centre for residents who need rest home care, hospital-level or dementia care and 200-plus villas for independent living. The name Te Puna Waiora has been gifted by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia and in English means ‘the source of well-being’. ‘Puna’ means a fountain or a spring, signifying regeneration and ‘waiora’ means health and wellness. Mike says the name reflects Arvida’s focus on living well. Before construction started, the site was blessed in a ceremony on 14 February 2020. Mike says Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia has been involved in the project as it was developing. The hapu now completes pest control on the site along with setting up traditional activities, which will engage with the residents. Arvida has set up an apprenticeship programme to help locals into careers in construction and landscaping. Three people are completing apprenticeships currently and Mike says this creates win-wins also giving Arvida the opportunity to train great staff in an industry beset by labour shortages. to page 48 022 126 9804 Commercial Residential Agricultural Proud to provide high quality carpentry services to Te Puna Waiora For ideas and advice about our windows and doors - talk to us.
