The terraces have north-facing frontages set back behind private front gardens, giving a buffer of separation without disconnecting entirely from the street. Every home has a secondary outdoor living area at the rear with access from a south side laneway with individual parking bays. “We try to think of all options to make every room functional, making realistic allowances for furniture arrangement, how users will move around a room and from room to room, and even which side a door is hung and where the light switch will go,” Glen says. “Where needed, we have introduced skylights or a solar tube to bring natural light into the centre of the homes.” The stand-alone and duplex homes have internal access garaging plus one off-street carpark, a private back garden and patio. “A key design intention for our duplexes was to ensure each of these homes has a sense of individuality,” Glen says. “We wanted to maintain visual connection, but not look repetitive. We did this by introducing subtle architectural variations on a theme – stepping the facades in and out, playing with roof forms and heights, creating asymmetry, and varying the material and colour palettes. They’re like cousins; you can tell they’re related, but they are different and distinctive.” The four-bedroom stand-alone homes are generous in both size and design. TEAM Architects has placed stairs in the middle of the floor plan, allowing living areas on the ground floor to be divided into two, while space is saved on the first floor landing is used in bigger bedrooms and bathrooms.
