Whites Powersports is New Zealand’s leading motorcycle parts, accessories and apparel importer and distributor. The single storey warehouse will encompass 5560sqm, with an adjoining 855sqm office block. iLine Construction’s project manager Cameron Williams says the contract provides for the complete vertical build of the project, with a civil contractor engaged by White Powersports for the site earthworks, which are currently underway. “While we haven’t engaged the civil contractors on this occasion, we remain responsible for the timing and completion of their work. We will commence the vertical build early July and it is expected that the completed building will be handed over to the client late May 2024. “While we haven’t been involved in the design of the building on this occasion, we are responsible for every other element including site measurements, the procurement and engagement of subcontractors and the physical construction of the building from sand-pad up,” he says. Some of the key elements of the warehouse building include seventy-four 12.5metre tall precast panels, along with a post-tension slab floor which avoids the need for sawcut expansion joints. Smoke mitigating ventilation louvres in the warehouse allow ventilation, while a sensor adjusts the louvre angle when it rains. If the fire system is triggered the louvres shut. There is also an underground quarter million litre water storage tank on site, providing firefighting capability. “The office block includes a lot of glazing, complemented with Symonite Equitone fibre cement board, and Indurabond Aluminium Composit Panel giving it a very smart contemporary look. Insol Perforated Louvres across the front provide both a smart look and functionality. It also has a Nuralite warm roof insulated panel system.” iLine Construction was founded in the Bay of Plenty in 2012 by directors Paul Hammond and Elton Verran, who saw a need for a construction company with a difference. Cameron says the business brings a wealth of knowledge in innovative building techniques, value engineering, advanced building methodologies learned through years of experience, along with streamlined sub-contractor coordination through relationship building. “Our projects range from heavy to light commercial and industrial work. Not only do we construct new multi-storey builds, but we’ve just completed a significant multi-storey internal and external renovation project. We’ve completed educational, medical and community facilities, a lot of seismic enhancement of existing buildings to meet code, and a lot of commercial fit-out projects.” Cameron acknowledges that the diversity of projects exposes the team to different challenges and solutions, as well as enabling them to become more proficient over a broad cross section of projects, resulting in a stronger team, and greater project versatility.
