P r o u d l y a s s o c i a t e d w i t h O c k h a m R e s i d e n t i a l Redefining urban living and community amenity, Ockham Residential is nearing completion of its largest development to date, Manaaki. Located in Onehunga, Auckland, the project combines luxurious communal facilities, thoughtful design, along with an emphasis on affordable housing, says Ockham Residential’s head of content and communications Peter Malcouronne. “With 80% of the apartments already sold, half to first-home buyers, Manaaki is set to become a landmark residential complex in Auckland,” he says. Comprising 210 apartments, including 87 KiwiBuild units, Manaaki is Ockham Residential’s 18th development – and fourth partnership with Marutūāhu Iwi. Peter says this fruitful collaboration has produced award-winning projects including Tuatahi in Mt Albert, Kōkihi in Waterview and Aroha in Avondale, as well with the recently announced Maungārongo, a 3,100 unit development at the former Unitec/Carrington Hospital in Point Chevalier. Since its inception in 2009 Ockham Residential has made a name for itself delivering quality homes that stand the test of time and blend harmoniously with the surrounding landscapes. With Manaaki the company has stayed faithful to this blueprint and favoured durable materials that require minimal upkeep. While Ockham’s signature brick façade remains a staple, Manaaki introduces a fresh twist, says Peter. “Our architectural team have used glazed, glossy bricks in a pastel colour palette,” he says. “It’s a little reminiscent of the pastel hues seen in the Cinque Terre fishing villages along the Italian Riviera. It also pays homage to the vibrant colours of Napier’s art deco buildings, which were rebuilt after the 1931 earthquake.” Peter says that Manaaki offers residents a wonderful lifestyle. It’s centrally positioned on the isthmus situated eight kilometres from the CBD and nine kilometres from the airport. Onehunga is a stepping-stone to the very best of Auckland, he says. “With the unmistakable grandeur that comes with being one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, leavened with a little light industrial grit, Onehunga has it all.” In line with Ockham’s desire to promote a sense of belonging and foster strong resident camaraderie there are an array of shared amenities at Manaaki. Residents will have access to a swimming pool, residents’ lounge, extensive gardens and cosy in-house café. Recognising the evolving work environment, Manaaki also incorporates four work-fromhome spaces inside each of its four buildings. “These offices offer residents the opportunity to work in a professional environment without the daily commute, providing both convenience and community,” says Peter. Manaaki has been designed to cater to a diverse range of residents with apartment configurations including one, one-bedroom plus study, two-bedroom and three-bedroom options. Like all of Ockham Residential’s developments, Manaaki has excellent public transport connectivity being 15 minutes’ walk from the Onehunga Railway Station and five minutes from bus-heavy Onehunga Mall route. With completion of the development scheduled for October 2023, Peter says that the Manaaki development continues to be met with strong interest from purchasers, evidence of Ockham dedication to providing relatively affordable housing options that stand out in the market.
