For example Matthew joined the company as an apprentice in 1999 and has risen through the ranks to lead it today, a journey that speaks volumes about what Aspec values. Many employees have been with the company for more than a decade, with some marking 20 and even 30 years of service. The company actively invests in apprenticeships, cadetships and professional development, promoting from within wherever possible. “We believe our greatest strength is our people,” says Matthew. “And the sense of family that comes from working together, celebrating together and giving back together.” That ethos extends beyond the workplace. Aspec has a long history of supporting various charitable initiatives and community fundraising efforts and partners with MATES in Construction to promote mental health awareness across the industry. All staff have access to a confidential Employee Assistance Programme, a reflection of the company’s belief that health and safety extends well beyond the physical risks of a construction site. On the environmental front, Aspec is a Toitū Carbon Reduce certified organisation, measuring and actively reducing its carbon footprint. In 2026 it also became Enviromark Gold certified and has previously delivered multiple Green Star projects, including a Living Building Challenge project demonstrating that sustainability is not a marketing position but an operational commitment. Aspec Construction is supported by a strong network of trusted trade partners who share its standards and among them are South Pacific Scaffolding, Alpha Fire, Savory Construction, Hills Commercial Floors, Illingworth Plumbing, and City Siteworks. “These long-standing relationships are part of what allows Aspec to deliver consistently, project after project, across the region,” says Matthew. Forty years in, he says the foundations are as solid as ever. “With a growing pipeline, a loyal workforce, award-nominated projects and a reputation built on decades of delivery, Aspec Construction remains as firmly embedded in Auckland’s built environment as the buildings it has helped shape and we look forward to the future and continuing to deliver the best for our team, our clients and the communities we serve.” 125 Fred Taylor Drive.
