We recently did a project up a goat track in Havelock - it would have been impossible to get a big crane in there. We simply unloaded our equipment and built the tank in situ on-site. There were no access issues, and it was a very efficient build process.” Customers in the New Zealand market seeking out this technology include councils and civil engineering companies. The size/ capacity options are considerable. “We can go up to three million litres, which is very large in comparison to a standard dairy factory silo that holds around 250,000 litres.” Caring for people & place Tīra’s values are caring for people and place, working with integrity, being courageous by leading with innovation, and seeking out excellence. With a story stretching as far back as 1894, Tīra has come a long way through honouring these values, gaining new capabilities and acquiring new companies over the years to extend its market reach. Sustainability is an important priority for Tīra, which has achieved Gold Certification this year through the Sustainable Steel Council. An independent audit found that Tīra is proactive in various areas, from waste reduction and environmental impacts to employees’ health and wellbeing and diversity. “We operate a number of waste management and control programmes. As a result, we have very low wastage – and anything that we are not able to use gets recycled.” Tīra has well-equipped workshops throughout New Zealand – in Blenheim, Invercargill, Timaru, Hāwera, Hamilton and Melbourne - catering efficiently to the needs of regional markets. “Our clients come to us with their specifications and we then work with them to find the best solution. We deliver a full service from design and build to installation or refurbishment and cover a wide range of projects from small to large scale. A lot of our customers come back to us time and again as their needs changes and they require modifications to their facilities. We work with them to do that, whether it’s to put in build and install process vessels or new pipework.” With more innovations in the pipeline, Tīra is strategically well-placed to navigate anticipated volatile trade conditions in the year ahead.
