78 | BUILDING Stonewood Homes Whangarei Karen Phelps Awards recognise ongoing excellence The living zone features a large lounge for entertaining, and huge open plan main living area flowing from a modern galley kitchen. The true excellence that Stonewood Homes Whangarei has earned has just been recognised again with a double win at the 2023 Stonewood Homes national awards. The franchise took out the Quality Excellence and Showhome awards for the Stonewood group. Stonewood Homes Whangarei sales manager Julie Scott says that the awards are based on customer feedback and independent critiquing of the homes. “These awards really demonstrate the consistently high level of quality and finish that we achieve with all of our homes,” she says. For people that want to see that quality first hand a brand new showhome has just opened at 24 Tironui Drive, Maunu (off Te Hape Road). Based on the Stonewood Homes Inglewood House Plan and clad in an interesting mix of James Hardie Oblique with reclaimed brick features, Julie says the home is the ultimate in modern open plan living. Set over 234sqm with two separate wings, the stylish home offers four bedrooms including a master bedroom with walk in wardrobe and ensuite plus a full bathroom. The living zone features a large lounge for entertaining, and huge open plan main living area flowing from a modern galley kitchen and butler’s pantry. There are raked ceilings, a built in gas fireplace, an office and double garage. An extensive kwila wrap around deck offers a plethora of options for stepping outside to enjoy the outdoors. A portico covered alfresco area leads to a small walled courtyard, perfect for a breakfast area. “Planning a new home is a lot easier (and more enjoyable) when people can touch and see the possibilities first hand,” says Julie. “It’s a great way to experience the high level of craftsmanship and integrity we dedicate to building our homes and designing house plans. This showhome aims to inspire extraordinary lifestyle opportunities, and to give people a window to endless possibilities and lasting memories. When people walk into our display home, they start to see the vision of their new home coming together.” Julie says that Stonewood Homes Whangarei believes that each new home it builds change to they build should reflect the customer and their unique style. Over 60 unique home designs are offered with 24 of these house plans available in different sizes and all house designs available with different roofline options to choose from. But in reality Stonewood Homes Whangarei rarely builds a standard plan – each home is customised to suit individual needs or is a complete design and build project. “Your life shouldn’t be built around your home, instead, your home should be built around your life and we get it. Our team have expert knowledge in all things home design and available land within the region,” she says. At present Stonewood Homes Whangarei offers house and land packages in various shapes, sizes and price ranges in Whangarei in Maunu and in the Riversong and Morningside developments. It also has options available in Dargaville. To cap off a stellar year in 2022 the franchise received a silver award for the Auckland/ Northland/Coromandel region in the New Home $750,000 - $1 million category at the prestigious Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition. The 378sqm rural four bedroom home delivered a trio of weatherboard linked pavilions, with schist pillars and chimney surround. The main bedroom with ensuite is in its own pavilion, making it feel like a true retreat. The kids’ wing features a generous multi-purpose space. There are multiple living areas to enjoy, one of which links to a raked-ceiling alfresco area that captures the rural scenery. The kitchen flows to an open-plan space with a scissor truss ceiling. Marcus Bracey opened the Stonewood Homes Whangarei franchise in 2014 and brings many years of home building experience having built both residential homes and commercial buildings throughout the region. “My philosophy has always been to treat every house I have built as if it were my own,” says Marcus. “I’m passionate about helping clients build their dream home so do everything I can to guide them through the procedure – no matter how big or small the project is.” This probably explains why so many of the homes he has built have gone on to achieve success in the Master Builders House of the Year Awards over the years, including a category award and numerous gold awards.
